YIKES!! PLEASE HELP! Homepage title, meta info DISAPPEARED!

I feel so dumb...been trying to fix for 2 days with no luck...

I'm not sure what happened, but when our home page loads, our title, meta tags, meta description is not loading anymore!!

All the titles, meta tags, etc. still work for the product pages and the product categories where you enter them through admin.

It seems like it isn't loading the html_header.php file or something?? I have been trying to make our header earlier this week, and that may have done it, we also started using linksmanager.com and they FTP up the links page directly to our website now...I contacted them and they do not think it was from linksmanager.com

I did edit the tpl_header.php page according to the following post:

But I replaced tpl_header.php with the file that was there before I edited it, but it didn't fix the problem...so I put the edited version back...

I know that I edited a file and inserted the code

but I do not remember which file it was, it was when I was trying to get rid of white space between the header and category nav bar :schmoll:

I also have replaced the

includes/languages/english/custom/meta_tags.php

file with what I had before I edited it this week, and that didn't help.

It shows to still have the includes/modules/meta_tags.php file too, it's not missing.

I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but it gives this message at the bottom of IE 6, but I do not know what file it is for -

Just in case, here is the fix if someone else has this problem...

There must have been something wrong with the

/includes/languages/english/custom/meta_tags.php
/includes/languages/english/meta_tags.php

that I edited, because when I replaced it with the original zen 1.3.6 file from the download and deleted my

/includes/languages/english/custom/meta_tags.php

it started working again! Now I can sleep in peace! Thanks again Linda.

Well if life was that easy I guess we would all have it figured out!! LOL - Trying to make myself feel better, as I THOUGHT the meta_tags.php file fixed it, but it really was my web developer trying to fix it at the same time that I was, and she had loaded a customized version of html_header.php with meta data in it to try to fix it, and it worked, but it also used it for ALL the pages in the website, so she had to take it down. So I am back to square one. The web developer, and myself has spent 48 to 60 hours trying to fix this to no avail. My web developer has given up, and I can't blame her!!

I think this is what happened, Thursday afternoon, my husband had loaded linksmanager. com into our zencart store and had it linked through an EZ page. But come to find out in the linksmanager.com control panel, it was turned on to load its own header (title, meta keywords and description) as well as the DOCTYPE html data. It pulled out meta info from our website and plugged it into the control panel.

Then when it started the FTP it loaded it to the root of the website instead of the links folder, and one of the pages was named index.html when it uploaded it, and it changed it auto renamed it to links.php. I think this is why it messed things up, but I have tried replacing our index.php page we have and many many others and it's not working. We have totally uninstalled linksmanager.com from our website, deleted the files off the server, and cannot figure out how to fix our home page title and meta data.

Anyway, it screwed it up so now my meta data is overridden somehow for the home page of the website ONLY.

We have done a total reinstall of 1.3.6 with a different template, and new files with no custom files, and our SQL database and it didn't fix it...

So we made a new SQL database and copied and pasted the products and customer info into it, and it didn't fix it...

So now we are using our original template again that we used when this all happened so our website looks decent...

We are at a total loss here, and I've noticed that our website has dropped from #4 to #30 in Yahoo for "Laser Cartridge Plus", and we haven't ranked well for any other keywords yet...not sure if this is why we are dropping or not, but makes me think MAYBE so...since I know we have been slurped on since this all happened.

IF ANYONE COULD help me out here , I would TRULY appreciate it. :blush:

Top level category is 0 as is the blank record ... garbage in ... garbage out ... mystery solved ... :smartass:

man.... where on earth can i change the title of the website? been looking for ages, i bet im just missing the most simplistic thing.....

You might peek in the language files ...
/includes/languages/english/meta_tags.php

Then copy that to your templates and overrides directory:
/includes/languages/english/your_template_dir/meta_tags.php

and make your changes to that ... :smile:

It is just a test ... it does not perform the updates ...

yes there is a particular reason, i dont want to confuse somebody i building this cart for, do you know how to get rid of it? The simpler the better :wink:

You would need to customize your Admin for:
/admin/includes/header.php

And change this so that it is not available at all from the Admin ...

Thanks again, just one more questions, i have just updated an order to updates, but the order is still under new orders? any reason for that, where can you change the balance paid options etc?

Do you mean on the Admin Home page where it is listing the last 5 orders regardless of orders_status that automatically roll the orders as they happen?

YEa on the admin page where it says new orders, it lists orders that i have set to delivered etc as still being new orders, also i read something about it flicking once balance is paid so i can only assume it has something to do with that.. :wacko:

All the Admin home page is for is a brief list of stats ...

Orders are considered New for the Last 5 Orders regardless of their orders_status ...

You would have to customize the select statement(s) for this page to alter the display to something else ...

NOTE: there are no templates and overrides for the /admin files ...

I do see a blank line in this table in the database. For categories_id it says "0" and for language_id it says "1". The other fields are empty.

It sounds like deleting this line is what fixed the problem for the first poster, right? I just wanted to check and make sure that that's what the solution meant before I tried it. Deleting this line is okay and won't mess anything up, right?

Well, that empty line was what was causing it. Does anyone know what would cause a blank record in the meta_tags_categories_description table?

I have a similar problem and would just like to check I am looking at the right thing here.this is what I can see

AM I right in thinking I delete the top line? will this not mess up my site at all?
My title tag and keywords are not showing up anymore on homepage yet all the files look correct.I have gone round in circles last two days trying to fix this:unsure:

You should be able to delete all of the rows that reference the 0 categories_id ...

To be safe, backup you database first ...

Or, backup the table that you are about to delete from ... this way you can always put things back ...

I have not run into a problem with this but better safe than sorry ... :smile:
