Preferred method of setting up SSL

Hi there guys,

Up until now, we've used Zen exclusively with PayPal. We're growing as people, and one of our periods of growth require that we set up an SSL cert and connect to a merchant account.

During the SSL Cert request, it asks which host we want it issued for(any subdomain, like secure.domain.com ), and I noticed that in Zen-Cart setup, it asks the URL to the secure connection, which got me to thinking:

What is the suggested method of setting up the Zen install for SSL? Do people use https://secure.domain.com for the secure portion of their shopping system, or do you simply route the secure requests to https://www.domain.com?

If you're using a subdomain for your secure connection, are you running a second install of Zen-Cart for this with the same DB (since most hosts route subdomains to a subfolder on the public root ) ?

Thanks for any light you might be able to shed.

Re: Preferred method of setting up SSL

As Zen Cart will Auto switch to a secure session a sub-domain is not required but will work.

More pointedly,...when requesting this cert you must specifiy the exact domanin name and use it exactly this way:

Cert issued to:
www .domain_name.??? is not the same as domain_name.???

So just insure that you create your CSR using the correct domain name that you intend on using. the www is no longer required on any up to date Apache install but you may prefer having it issued to the www address
