CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

Hi all. I'm set up on version 1.3.6. I have my own SSL and certificate, both installed and operational.

Visa and Mastercard are both enabled in Configuration>Credit Cards

When I use the ZenCart basic cc module, everything works fine.

When I try using the goemerchant payment module (downloaded from here), I get the following error when I try to process:

payment_error=goemerchant&error=The+credit+card+number+starting+with
++was+not+entered+correctly%2C+or+we+do+not+accept+that+
kind+of+card.+Please+try+again+or+use+another+credit+card.

Looking in the faq here, I see that that's normally an error message one gets when the credit cards are not enabled in Configuration>Credit Cards, but mine are configured. I get the same message in both Test and Production mode, with test and real credit card numbers.

Any clues? Or is this something solely on goemerchant's end? Thanks!

Re: CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

this is going to be on the merchants end.

make sure that you are setup to take all 4 card types,
this might incure additional charges for Discover and Amex

Re: CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

Thanks for the quick response.

My merchant account is only set up for MC and Visa, so that's what I enabled -- you're saying that I need to take all four? I'm not sure I'm understanding.

Re: CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

What are the first 6 digits of the CC number you're testing with, and how many digits total ?

Re: CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

Hmmm ... visa cards follow the pattern of:

  • starts with a 4
  • has either 13 or 16 digits

I'm more concerned about something in the module ... the error message says:> The+credit+card+number+starting+with

++was+not+entered+correctlyThe double ++ suggests that it left out the digits altogether while processing ... normally it would have said +4305+ instead of ++ in your example.

This suggests that the module is either not receiving the digits properly or is sending bad digits to the internal validation code.

You said that using the basic CC module is fine, which suggests that it's a config or code problem in the goemerchant module.

Another question: Is this happening when you enter the card number and click Continue, or is it happening after you go to the confirmation page and click Confirm to submit the payment ?

Re: CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

Hi Dr. Byte -- thanks for getting back to me! The error is happening on the initial payment page -- where the credit card is initially submitted. When you hit the 'Continue' button, the page simply reloads, with that error message displayed in the browser's Address Bar. The same thing happens whether the module is set in Test or Production mode.

Peggy:

Did you ever get an answer as to wheter only taking Visa and MC was an issue? I'm in the same boat and from what I've found I don't want to take Amex or discover either.

Re: CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

After deciding to go with goemerchant myself, I found errors as well and the existing download did not support CVV2.

I've been working with emerchant tech support, Richie Byrd, and he's updated the module to accept Cvv2 and allows you to enter their gateway prefix and login id. I'm still in test mode with them, but hope to have something finalized by the end of the week.

cjburch -- I'm impressed! I never had much luck working with Richie Byrd. Please do let me know if the new module works. I'm on the verge of dumping goemerchant because I'm sick of having to enter my orders by hand.

It's working. It took a while & some stepping on toes, but bottom line is it's working. Only thing I don't like is the module is named goEmerchant and the code is written to pull the module name so that when you check out the customer sees 'goEmerchant' instead of 'Credit Card'. I'll work on that when I get a chance. You have to disable the CC module though.

The GoEmerchant support team has updated the module in the Zen Cart download area. I'm not sure how much testing has been done but I'm working.

Hi cjburch -- I've been crazy busy and am just getting back around to looking at this new module. Can I ask you about this order/gateway prefix thing? Is this something you make up, or something goEmerchant supplies to you? I know what the Transaction Center ID is, but have not dealt with an "OrderID prefix"

::sigh:: The last version of this module kept asking for a "transaction key" which was also something I'd never heard of, and that module never worked, so seeing more unfamiliar nomenclature is making me wary!

Re: CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

Peggy:

Yes, the OrderID prefix is assigned by goEmerchant.

There was recently also a change in the CC iAuthorize.Net nterface to goEmerchant from Master Card which required a change to the class which Richie did for me (previously accepted Mastercard or Master Card - now only accepts Master Card).

The Transaction Center ID is assigned by goEmarchant as a unique identifier for logging into their transaction center for updating and batching transactions for processing. All of this should be provided once you sign up with goEmerchant.

Their tech support and Richie told me to call him direct for any/all issues with Zen card. Call Richie Byrd at 888-711-3800 (ask for Richie). He usually gets in after 11 am EDT. Be sure to ask him to update the class module as well for MC.

Hope this helps.

Re: CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

payment_error=goemerchant&error=The+credit+card+nu mber+starting+with
++was+not+entered+correctly%2C+or+we+do+not+accept +that+
kind+of+card.+Please+try+again+or+use+another+cred it+card.

Going back to the original issue, this was due in part to the server not allowing $HTTP_POST_VARS. After changing the variables to be $_POST or $_REQUEST the issue resolved itself. That is the reason that the credit card number was not being passed correctly to the cc_validation.php file. This really had nothing to do with GoEmerchant's module, but more of a unique issue with the environment the code was being compiled in.

Well, I just tried it again from a fresh install of the module and am still getting this error:

https://shop.comstockfilms.com/index.php?main_page=checkout_payment&payment_error=goemerchant&error=The+credit+card+number+starting+with++was+not+entered+correctly%2C+or+we+do+not+accept+that+kind+of+card.+Please+try+again+or+use+another+credit+card.&goemerchant_cc_owner=&goemerchant_cc_expires_month=&goemerchant_cc_expires_year=

I entered my transaction center number and prefix. I've enabled the gateway in the goemerchant transaction center, I'm not sure what else to do.

I replaced $HTTP_POST_VARS by $_POST on the goemerchant module a while back, but still getting the same error "The+credit+card+nu mber+starting+with
++was..." from time to time.

So you might be missing some orders without knowing it.

Here is some handy code that will help log payment errors:

Add this at the bottom of includes/modules/pages/checkout_payment/header_php.php

if(isset($_GET['error'])||isset($_GET['error_message'])){
    $stringData = date("m/d/Y H:i:s")." - ";
    foreach($_GET as $key=>$value){
        if($key!='main_page')
            $stringData .= $key.": ".$value." | ";
    }
    $stringData .= " - Customer ID: ".$_SESSION['customer_id']."\n";
    $myerrorfile = "internal/path/payment_errors.txt";
    $fh = fopen($myerrorfile, 'a') or die("can't open file");
    fwrite($fh, $stringData);
    fclose($fh);
}

Make sure payment_errors.txt is writeable by the script (777).
Make sure you place a test order after pasting the code.

Anyone is had this error and resolved it for good?

Also, their is coupon code miss-calculation and issues:

This coupon should give 76% off and the order was above $1000. Here is a comment from an order:
"He inputted the code but was not instructed to input a credit card... and the order went through with a price of -498.63 (yes... negative...)"

another issue:
-Sub-total: $149.75
-Free shipping: $0.00
-Discount coupon: couponname: -$113.81
-Total: $9.19

Total should be $35.94 not $9.19

So some customer can check out without entering any CC info with a valid coupon code, and some checkout with the wrong total amount!

This happens on any coupon and not on all orders, some are calculated correctly.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

I am using Zen 1.3.8a with GoEmerchant pay module. After entering in CC info in step 2, the page simply returns to step 2. As in the previous issues discussed in this thread, the URL does not show cc numbers, only ++ which would indicate the numbers are not being passed according to those posts. I am using the latest GoEmerchant script downloaded from their website. Also have installed debugger but it is not showing any errors. Path to DB is also correct (suggestion from another thread).

One thing I am not clear on is where does the cc_validation.php file go? I have tried it in root, includes, and in the payment module with same error.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Re: CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

Changing the $HTTP_POST_VARS to $_POST in the file includes/modules/payment/goemerchant.php made some progress. After entering in the card number the transaction goes to go emerchant, the screen says transaction is successful and the amount shows in the go merchant administration panel, BUT then it loops back to the step 2 checkout page instead of the confirmation page. Seems I saw a post on that somewhere while looking for this solution...

Re: CC process error even though cards enabled - goemerchant

I have looked through all the posts I can find on the subject and am not able to determine the solution to correct the merchant from returning to the checkout page instead of the order confirmation page.

Following the above posts, I changed the $HTTP_POST_VARS to $_POST. Would I need to do the same for $HTTP_GET_VARS and $HTTP_SERVER_VARS?
