The extension is not harcoded, if your server is using the correct version of TLS it will work.

Maxmind.com is going to upgrade their system to only accept requests made with TLS V1.2 very soon

Is there anyway for me to modify the current version to meet the upgrade requests?

change admin/maxmind_orders.php so the links are https.
change includes/modules/maxmind/HTTPBase.php to set the default to isSecure=1

That's all I could see. I guess we'll know in a few days.
