Paypal Express button not going anywhere

I'm trying to get Paypal Express working on my site. The problem i'm having is that when i press the express button from my shopping cart, the browser never ends up redirecting to the paypal site. Instead it seems to time out, and after a few minutes i get an IE warning saying the site could not be opened.

I'm running the most recent version of zen cart, and IE 7.

I got several debug messages. Unfortunately, i'm not very knowledgable about this kind of stuff, so let me know what specific info you need (of if i inadvertently censored some info you need). Here is the output of one of the debug messages:

```
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
Can you try this:
  1. Use the updated module posted here:
    http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpost.php?p=309246&postcount=19
  2. Turn on email logging, and post the output of the "SetExpressCheckout" debug email here. Censor what you must ... but as little as possible please.
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
Thank you in advance for your help,
I tried using the updated module you mentioned. However, i am not getting the "SetExpressCheckout" debug emails, but am still having the same problem.
When i click the paypal express button, it seems to timeout and i get the IE page saying something about "Cannot open this page..."
I get the following debug messages:
ec_step 1 - 1
getOverrideAddress - 4
ec_step 1 - 2 - submit.
In the past i've gotten those "SetExpressCheckout" logs, but not anymore... maybe this new module had something to do with that?
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
The SetExpressCheckout portion is triggered by clicking on the Express Checkout button.
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
hmm strange, i wasn't getting the SetExpressCheckout message before, but i just tried it again and got one. Here it is:
https://api-3t.paypal.com/nvp
live
Request Headers: array (
0 => 'Content-Type: text/namevalue',
1 => 'X-VPS-Timeout: 45',
2 => 'X-VPS-VIT-Client-Type: PHP/cURL',
3 => 'X-VPS-VIT-Integration-Product: PHP::Zen Cart WPP-NVP',
4 => 'X-VPS-VIT-Integration-Version: 0.1',
)
Request Parameters: array (
'LOCALECODE' => 'US',
'PAYMENTACTION' => 'Sale',
'EMAIL' => '[email protected]',
'AMT' => '5.99',
'RETURNURL' =>
'https://www.starshinecompany.com/catalog/ipn_main_handler.php?type=ec',
'CANCELURL' =>
'https://www.starshinecompany.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=checkout_shipping&ec_cancel=1',
'PAGESTYLE' => 'paypal',
'METHOD' => 'SetExpressCheckout',
'CURRENCYCODE' => 'USD',
'USER' => 'hidden_api1.hotmail.com',
'PWD' => '****************',
'VERSION' => '2.3',
'SIGNATURE' => '****************************************************QCy-',
)
Response: array (
'' => NULL,
)
Besides this message i also got:
PayPal Error Log - ec_step1()
PayPal test Log - terminateEC-A
termEC-1
termEC-2
termEC-3
termEC-10
termEC-8
Let me know if it would help to see any of those too.
Thanks again!
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
Okay, so the debug email is saying > Response: array (
'' => NULL,
)
In your earlier posts you mentioned these error messages ... are you still getting anything related to these even when the above occurs in the logs?
An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor.
Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store
owner for assistance. ()
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
yes. This:
error_msg: An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor.
Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store
owner for assistance. ()
appears in a message called "PayPal test Log - terminateEC-A." It also appears in a message called "termEC-10."
The other message appears if you click on the https://api-3t.paypal.com/nvp
link in the SetExpressCheckout message that you had me post.
Is this a fresh install of v1.3.7 ?
or was it an upgrade?
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
Hello,
I am having similar problem. When I click on the yellow Paypal Express button the IE6 gives a blank page, Firefox gives an error:
The requested URL /ipn_main_handler.php&type=ec was not found on this server.
This occurs on http://demo.eism.net/. I have just upgraded it from version 1.3.6.
Similar message occurs on http://www.unique-gifts-jewelry.com/:
The requested URL /ipn_main_handler.php&type=ec&zenid=ab4d6** was not found on this server.
This was also upgraded from 1.3.0.2->1.3.5->1.3.6->1.3.7. (PHP 4.3.11 on both servers).
It loooks like the module cannot locate ipn_main_handler.php. Basic Paypal IPN works perfecly on both servers. Please help.
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
It was a fresh install. Like the person who posted above me, the Paypal IPN seems to work fine, it's just a problem with Paypal Express.
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
demo.eism.net and www.unique-gifts-jewelry.com are using a SEFU/SEO module that is preventing the ipn_main_handler.php file from being allowed to execute properly.
Try turning off the URL-modifying modules and remove the related .htaccess rewrite rules, and then try testing the PayPal module
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
Thanks - that debug report is helpful. You should also have one that says "SetExpressCheckout" in the email subject line -- can you post that data here?
It should also have the 10004 error message in it, but with some additional details.
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
Hmmm ... the fields show with '' as their value should not be blank.
Your log from the previous post says that you're using Address record #7 for the billing address (this suggests that it's the main address on the account of the customer already in Zen Cart) and address #8 for the shipping address.
The email address also appears to be blank ... although it appears you've stripped some data for privacy reasons, so I'm not sure if you blanked the email address manually.
Do any of the address records for this customer contain blanks? ie, do they all have valid state, street, city, etc information?
What happens if you do "not" select an alternate shipping address, and instead just use the primary address of the customer's account for both shipping and billing? What happens if you "change" the primary address to the "other" one, and try using "that" one for both shipping and billing?
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
DrByte:
demo.eism.net and https://www.unique-gifts-jewelry.com are using a SEFU/SEO module that is preventing the ipn_main_handler.php file from being allowed to execute properly.
Try turning off the URL-modifying modules and remove the related .htaccess rewrite rules, and then try testing the PayPal module
I have turned off Ultimate SEO module and replaced .htaccess file with a blank one on http://demo.eism.net/. I am still getting a blank screen:
The requested URL /ipn_main_handler.php&type=ec was not found on this server.
Please help.
I agree that it doesn't make sense. Can you answer the questions I posted earlier about address selections etc ?
Re: Paypal Express button not going anywhere
I am having the same problem and I did follow your instruction about setting up the AIP but everytime I click the express checkout button I received like 13 e-mail all with the same stuff everyone else wrote - and its like all chinese to me so I can't wait to see what everyone has to say about it - I removed it again for now. But I like the idea.
