Online/Physical store synchronization question

I'm running a website for a brick & mortar clothing store. They want to eventually computerize their inventory. Right now, they just buy clothes, put it on the racks, and when it sells out, they buy more. What I would like to do is start an asset management system and synchronize their store inventory with the online inventory. So the website will have the total number of products available and when someone buys that item in the physical store, they will scan the barcode and it will deduct the stock automatically from the online stock. Is this possible with Zen-Cart? I'm not asking for specific directions or anything. This is something I would be more serious about next year.

I am thinking of this too. Perhaps If they used the shoping cart as the register. you can still use a barcode reader."its just a keyboard emulator" chose cash and store pickup if they were using credit you may have to use the merchat proccessers Terminal to swipe and choose "in person" sale it would be nice if Zencart had a terminal mode!

I want to bump this thread as i wonder on this question myself.

... almost anything is possible. You would need to program your barcode reader and/or POS to use the same database as the online shop.
