Disallowing coupons to be used on Gift Certificates

Hello,
I have a question. I set up and configured the gift certificates, and I have discount coupons active (like 10% off)

If someone buys a gift certificate, and uses a coupon code, it discounts the gift certificate.

How do i make it so that a discount coupon cannot be used with a gift certificate purchase?

also, suppose someone buys a normal item + a gift certificate, and they punch in a coupon code. Is there also a way for the coupon to work for the normal item but not for the gift certificate in the same transaction?

Ok, my stupidity. I figured it out. Everything is set up correctly, except the shipping section. I had marked it FREE SHIPPING, instead of virtual item and regular shipping rules.
Got that mixed up, but now it is fixed, and works perfectly, sorry for the troubles, hope this helps someone out. :blush:

Thanks for the update ... and glad that you found that Gift Certificates do have a couple of distinct rules:

1 products_model must start with, in CAPS, GIFT

2 be marked as Product is Virtual: Yes, Skip Shipping Address
