reset admin / customer username and password

Today for some reason my password/username stop working. I tried to ask for a new,.... and that is where I get stuck, since at the moment only have "email forgotten password." But not username. Do not know if this is thesame on customer side but in case it is... So it would be a good idea as a patch / including in next upgrade a way that a person can request their username / password to be forward as well.

Re: reset admin / customer username and password

What you are asking for is a HUGE security hole to be opened - not good.

If you forgot your Admin Username you can retrive it from your database, using phpMyAdmin for example. If your Client forgot their Username they should be asking you, the Admin, for what it is. You can then look it up through the Admin section and/or in the database itself.

Re: reset admin / customer username and password

Was going to come back today and say fix the problem, and did just that, using SQL database. But about the security hole, I see many sites, both e-carts and email clients, in fact maybe even this forum that if one person forgot their login details they can retrieve it by email / display on site. (granted most are not admin.) But could have like a question for example when you setup account it ask you for mothers maiden name, pets name etc. Only than is it email to your account which only u should have access to. I dont know much to know if this is possible but also other option which might reduce security aspect is a script that a person can run on SQL server which will retrieve the info from correct places.

Re: reset admin / customer username and password

I think the looking up of the user name in the PHPMyAdmin is a very good way to do this.

I have another problem that is similar. I forgot my admin name, so I looked it up in the database. That is great, but I forgot my password as well. I used the "Send Password" option, but it never sent me an email.

How can I reset the password, knowing that I am the site owner? I tried to add a new admin user through PHPMyAdmin with an empty password, but this did not work.

How can I get this going again? I have tried all of my known passwords, but to no avail...:schmoll:
