Base price for product plus price by the foot?

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a pricing attribute for a product - a piece of hose. The standard price for the first foot and fittings is $50, but if you need to additional feet added to the line at time of purchase each additional foot cost $5.00.

I have tried a few different ways of adding the additional but everytime I seem to get each additional foot as $55.00 or the original foot costing $5.00

any thoughts on how this ccould be achieved?
