broken ssl, request info re insecure links

I'm trying to understand ssl and I'm having the broken lock issue. I've been reading and if I understand correctly, if there are a mix of secure (https) and insecure (http) links on a page, the lock will appear to be broken. Is that correct or am I off base?

Thank you for the info, it is helpful. I suspect there is an issue in the custom header bar I stuck in ZC -- it did have a 'src="http' link in there, but I took that out made, and made a hard link to a graphic in my zencart directory. That didn't solve the issue though.

In fact, I even disabled the entire bar completely (it's just a php include file so commenting it out was a snap) and that didn't change things.

Then I had to go do my day job, and now I'm going to be heading home to try some other things. Would a link to a css file cause problems? I suppose I should just copy and rename that to my template css directory, or use "https" when linking to it.

I think what I will do is just start disabling elements and figure out which one causes the breakage. If I disable everything and its still broken, then I'll start drinking whiskey till things seem better.

Anyway, if you wish to look at the site, here is the link:

Thank you again for the assistance. If you think I'm going about things the wrong way, either with the custom menu bar or with the "disable things till it works" plan, please let me know.

Re: broken ssl, request info re insecure links

I just came back to report that I had found the culprit -- but ya beat me to it. ;-)

I had completely forgotten that my copyright include had the google analytics link in it and then after I initially got ssl set up, added the copyright tag as an afterthought without looking at its effect on ssl.

Anyway, I'm so relieved. It took almost no time to fix.

You know, you saved me a lot of useless effort just with your first comment. Without that, I might have messed around with changing all my links to ssl ones. Then I'd eventually learn the truth and have to go back. I appreciate that.
