Gift Certs not redeeming

Hey Everyone,
I've got my gift cert module working to the point that I bought a gift cert'. I can send individual e's out using my gift certificate balance but when they (me testing) try to redeem them with the redemption code, they (I) are dumped onto the login page. The admin drop down tells me that the email gc was sent and hasn't been redeemed but the redemption will not work. I'm not sure where to go from here.

Boy am I stupid. I did not read all the FAQ concerning the GC's. Is there a workaround in progress that will allow the redeemer to simply receive a download link? It is cumbersome to ask a person receiving a gift to create an account. Thanks for your response.

To possess GVs you must have an account that "owns" the GVs as the GVs are cash ...

Thats a reasonable explanation. One more thing...

When I try to use a portion of my Gift Certificate balance to pay for a taxable item in my shopping cart, the cart will only except payment for the item, leaving the tax as unpaid. IE.

1. Sub-Total: $8.95
2. Free Shipping: $0.00
3. Sales Tax: $.58
4. Total: $9.53
5. Gift Certificate - Available Balance: $14.58

I enter 9.53 in the "Apply Amount" text box and click "continue checkout". My next screen shows:

1. Sub-Total: 8.95
2. Free Shipping: 0.00 (its a download)
3. Sales Tax: .58
4. Gift Certificates: -8.95
5. Total: .58

I'm not sure why this is happening. Any ideas? TIA

Check your settings in the Modules ... Order Totals ... for the Gift Certificates ot_gv and make sure that you have them configured correctly ...

If you do not have it marked to pay for taxes then taxes are charged separately and must be paid in some other manner ... example: Credit Card, Money Order, PayPal etc.
