Showing $US Currency by default? -- Language/Currency Links in Header

I'm using the 'Language/Currency Links in Header' for ZenCart from Neville Kerr.

I was wondering if it's possible to make it default to show $US dollars prior to the user choosing a currency?

Our Protx payment gateway is setup to receive £ Sterling so I need to make the default currency in Zen Cart to be £ sterling otherwise the total amount to pay will be wrong.

I'd appreciate any help you can give me.
