Where are my images

I have been configuring a new installation on a site which is not yet active. I have uploaded images of my products and the company logo and all seemed great - yesterday. Today all the images have place holders and pictures. I checked on the server - everything is there. Can anyone tell me what I did wrong or what happened?

Check that your directory and all its subdirectories for /images are set to 777

I'm not sure, my server is very slow right now. But it is at the same setting as it was yesterday and the day before when everything was working perfectly. Perhaps it has something to do with the host - I'll check.

Just got through to my server. the folder is set at 755 and the files at 644

Are you able to see any of the files in your browser if you enter their direct URL?

No I couldn't. Then I realized that I had activated a security option on the server. When I removed this option, everything came back.
Sorry for waisting your time with a dumb move and thanks for you patience in helping a mental cripple :D .

And don't feel too bad ... think how many folks you helped out with missing images who might not realize that they broke them themselves with a security option on their server ...

I was banging my head against this one after testing my new install (1.3.7) on a new subdomain, which wasn't specified under hotlink protection.
