Strange Problem with other modules showing up

I had a customer contact me telling me that when going through PPExpress checkout, on the "Order Confirmation" screen it gave them a "Cash" option (another payment module I had). He confirmed it and sent the payment manually. I asked him to describe what exactly he did to get to that "Cash" option, as it wasn't available for people not in the price group.

He gave me the steps he took and said he could reproduce it. So.. I tried uninstalling that module (its the "Invoice" one by SWguy).. and he tried again. This time, it said "Credit Card".

The CreditCard payment module (linkpoint) is only available to US residents (using zones).. this customer lives in Canada. I require a confirmed address and his address was indeed a confirmed one when he was checking out.

Here are the steps he used to reproduce it. I have the paypal express logs in my includes/modules/payment/paypal/logs folder.. not sure how useful these specific logs will be.

Steps:

Hi,
Well I went through the same steps this time, and it came up as credit card. I by going to the m3 page, added it to cart. then I went to checkout, i signed in with my paypal account then went forward past the redemption screen and when i looked at the invoice it said cash. I went through the same steps this time again and it came up as credit card. Should it come up as paypal? <snip>

I've tried with a US account.. but cannot reproduce it

Can anyone help me with this? I can provide the logs via PM/email upon request.

Thanks!

Samad

Re: Strange Problem with other modules showing up

This has been duplicated. Both times, it was a Canadian order that was causing problems. Temporarily I have set up a zone for PP Express to show up for US residents, and for the normal PayPal module to show up for everyone else.

Can someone please look into this?

Re: Strange Problem with other modules showing up

Could you go to the Modules ... Payments ...

And click once on each module and remove what ever modules you do not use?

Yup.. it was already set :). I only use Linkpoint & PayPal Express (and now the PayPal IPN as a bandage for international orders)

I have another site which is in development with fresh files (with recent PPExpress patches). If needed I can test out some stuff on there.. the only problem is I don't have a canadian paypal account so i wouldn't be able to test it to the fullest extent

Re: Strange Problem with other modules showing up

Now this happens on US accounts.

To duplicate, in PayPal express module settings REQUIRE a confirmed address. On the customer side, go to checkout and change your address / shipping method. It will not let you change the ship to address obviously, unless its a confirmed address. Go through the checkout process and there it is, the credit card module displayed on the checkout_confirmation screen.

This will not reproduce (most likely) if there are no other modules installed.

I have the following installed:
PayPal Express (US ZONE ONLY)
PayPal (all non-US zones)
Linkpoint (US ZONE ONLY)

Linkpoint is currently disabled due to trouble with cardservice as they closed my account.. have to wait until it reopens to reenable it.

I'm willing to pay for a resolution for this problem as its really starting to get on my nerves.

And before anyone asks, I have the 2nd latest paypal express patch ( not the one released 2/20, the one released 2/19 is the one i have). I will attempt to patch with the 2/20 to see if its been resolved but i highly doubt it has been.

Re: Strange Problem with other modules showing up

I just spoke to a customer who was having this problem - he did not have a credit card linked to his account. I require a confirmed address for all purchases on my site... so PayPal can't provide me that confirmed address and the customer doesn't have a credit card enabled on the account. Usually it would ask for the customer to add a CC to proceed with purchase, however since I have a zone restriction on that state I think it messed up a little bit. Just food for thought.. maybe it will spark an idea somewhere as to what could be wrong :)

Re: Strange Problem with other modules showing up

I also have experienced a similar problem that I posted about in the Customer & Orders section. A person was able to submit an order with a cash payment option that I do not offer. The cash/money order module was installed, but not enabled. I have since removed it. I have been unable to duplicate this order or figure out how it could have gotten through.

I have the lastest PayPal patch installed (March 20th).
