NewWay to save Attributes Modelnumbers

I gather from the status of this thread, that you did not get Attributes Modelnumbers to work yet.

Can someone provide a translation of the following messages?

  • Das xajax Javascript file konnte nicht includiert werden. Vieleicht ist die URL falsch?\nURL: ajax/xajax_js/xajax.jss (seen in Attributes Controller panel)
  • kein Werte übermittelt (seen when viewing a product)
  • Attribut Preis errechnen (seen when viewing a product)

Must xajaxRequestUri be entered as an IP code, or can I use https://www.mystore.com?

Re: NewWay to save Attributes Modelnumbers

If working, will this mod finally allow me to put "priced by attributes" products on special?

From Google Babel Fish translation:

  1. The XAJAX Javascript file could not be included (?loaded). Perhaps the URL is wrong? (should the filename end in .jss or .js?)
  2. No value transmitted (?entered)
  3. Attribute price calculated.

Can't help you on the xajaxRequestUri. I never got this module to work.

Re: NewWay to save Attributes Modelnumbers

Did we forget about this one? I haven't seen anything about it. I did hear, however that this will be a feature of v 1.4. This true?

Re: NewWay to save Attributes Modelnumbers

This is also a feature that I would LOVE. I spend a lot of time editing model numbers for products that have attributes to ensure that we ship out the right products.

I thought I read once that ZC 1.4 was going to have this as a feature. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that, or am I just imagining that? -- Quite possible that I was imagining that! My memory is not so hot lately! :)

If not, I will probably take a crack at making something like this in the near future. I thought about looking over this one and seeing if I could get it to work, but I am wary of messing around with AJAX. Probably easier to start from scratch.

It seems that all I would need to do is create an entry in the attributes table of the database that has new model numbers, and add a box to the attributes page where this data can be edited. Then, when a customer purchases a product, Zen Cart would check the attributes table for a model number, and if one existed, override the default model number that gets written to the orders table in the database. Sounds simple enough....but nothing is ever quite as simple as it seems! We'll see. :)

Anyway, if anyone has any info on whether or not this ability already exists with another mod or if ZC 1.4 will have it, I'd love to know. Sounds like a lot of work I could avoid if it already exists. :)

Re: NewWay to save Attributes Modelnumbers

I have a feeling that, to be most useful, this would need to allow for the case where attributes A-1 and B-3 together indicate one model number, while A-1 and B-4 together indicate a different model number, and A-2 and B-4 indicate a third model number. Obviously, the more combinations are allowed, the more complex the code gets, though there might be a way to automatically work through an arbitrary number of them...
Maybe mapping each model number to an array of attribute ids in the db.
Just an observation, I don't have much to contribute to the coding here, but it would be a good feature to have.

Re: NewWay to save Attributes Modelnumbers

That's a really good point, and honestly something I hadn't considered. I don't use more than one attribute on my website that I would use this on, so I probably would just create this mod for one attribute only. It wouldn't work for multiple attributes. The logistics of doing so are, quite frankly, probably not worth the effort. But, doing it for one attribute wouldn't be very hard, so I still may tackle this at some point after the holiday shopping season is over.

You might want to contact ZC Dev Team directly and inquire if this feature will be integrated into ZC v.1.4. I've noted many posts on this forum stating a major upgrade to Attributes management was coming in ZC v.1.4 and that the upgrade is right around the corner. But on the other hand I have been hearing that for over a year now.

Maybe v.1.4 will be this years holiday gift?

Did you manage to resolve this? The error indicates a missing file which I have been able to download from the developer's site. But now the script is running I am getting a second error as file xajax.inc.php is missing too!

Can you (or anyone else) help here?

That file should be in ajax/xajax5/xajax_core. I have noticed that there are some significant file dissimilarities between the xajax from langer in the free downloads and the other one that was floating around this forum named xajax_zen_2008-01-08

gsdcypher your error appears to be because it's looking for a file with a .jss extension instead of .js. Find the line of code that is calling for that file and correct it to the .js extension. Although I haven't seen an xajax.js file in either version mentioned above....

Re: NewWay to save Attributes Modelnumbers

Although I am fresh user of this forum, I have interested about this add-on for one year. Nowdays I do a little progress.

In file stats_attr_model.php:

I've changed all "language_id = 43 " to my own (language_id = 2).

So I do next step to get addon useful.

But another problem:

browser send me a DB error:

"1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE products_model = 'LS', products_price =
in:
[INSERT INTO products_attributes_modelnumber (combi_id, products_attributes_modelnumber_id, products_id, products_model, products_price, products_weight, products_attribute_4, products_attribute_5) VALUES ('2+4-1_5-3', '', '2', 'LS', '100', '1', '1', '3') ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE products_model = 'LS', products_price = '100', products_weight = '1']
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields."

Any ideas?

I will try to contact admin of http://www.baushop-manek.de in next days. There is the add on works properly.

Pajikd

PS: Sorry, my english is not well.

Re: NewWay to save Attributes Modelnumbers

Hi, I don't noy progaming byt i have proposition
hay to solve problem about 'Attributes Modelnumbers'.

Product ID ZC set automatic, model number set admin manualy.##

Somebody to make the code thet admin can set Modelnumbers of atribute product manually.
When make in ' Attributes Controller ' combination of product to have field to
put manualy Modelnumber of thet Attributes.

sample of my proposition:
..........
Admin make:
Product: ID 36 model: 1234

Thet product have variation with Attributes:
variation A
variation B
Then admin makes thet Attributes with product he put model numbers manualy:
ID 36 model: 1234 variation A - modelnumbers: AAA (entire model number is: 1234AAA )
ID 36 model: 1234 variation B - modelnumbers: BBB (entire model number is: 1234BBB )

ZC only have automatic checking when put Attributes Model numbers thet you don't put same number for two product.

In stock report, ZC will see hay mach have product of master Product ID 36 model: 1234 (22qty) end
stock of variation thet master product:
ID 36 variation A - modelnumbers: 1234AAA (11qty)
ID 36 variation B - modelnumbers: 1234BBB (11qty)

..........................

Now only somebody to write the code.
This is my preposition hay to solve problem, if I write something illogically thet can't
programming solve I apologize.
