Need help with 1st Discount coupon

Guys, I really need help understanding 1st Discount Coupon...have spend hours searching the forums...
My Questions are:

a) How is the 1st discount coupon created for a customer?

b) can the first discount coupon be used to give customer discounts similar to the coupon created using "Coupon Admin"

c) Is there a way of creating a coupon tied to particular customer which the customer can then pass on to friends. Customer's friends use the coupon code and when they order they get a discount and then I can figure out a way to give some credit to the Customer who referred his friends.

d) can (c) mentioned above be accomplished via 1st discount coupon

e) Is the 1st discount coupon auto generated for a customer or the admin has to create for each customer?

f) How is the customer notified of a 1st discount coupon?

YOu need to first create a coupon. Then from the admin, go to GV Coupons and select your "new signup" coupon there. The following post might help:

Yes. It can do anything the "Coupon Admin" can, becuase they are actually linked. You need to first create the coupon you want to offer to "new signups" (1st timers) from within the Coupon Admin, then select that from the GV section. So it can do anything you dream up within the limits of the Coupon Admin itself of course.

You need to have the "referral system" turned on in Zen.

Yes. In conjunction with the "referral" system. See above link in previous section "c" response.

You create the coupon once (from within the Coupon Admin). After selecting it in "GV Coupons" as the "new signup" code, it is automatically generated for each new customer.

The new customer is notified in their "Welcome Email" of the coupon code.

Correct. That is if you want to offer something like "bonus dollars" (dollar amount) or something like that for signing up. The amount you put in that filed would be "given" to the new customer upon registering.

I have to say, Zen Cart would benefit from some consistency with the use of the terms 'coupons' and 'certificates' in menus and config screens. The word 'voucher' seems to creep into both which makes it a tad confusing at times (IMHO!)
