Order Confirmation "from" address?

Hi,

I try to figure out, how and where I need to make changes to have the "FROM" address in the "Order Confirmation" email sent back to me, contains the CUSTOMER EMAIL ADDRESS inteed of the default site email address?
I did not find any available settings in the admin panel under (Customers) email preferences.

The Order Confirmation email address sent to the customer needs to be the same default email address, as before.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Order Confirmation "from" address?

includes/classes/order.php file.

Note: This file is not part of the overrides so make a backup before attempting to make any modifications on it.

Re: Order Confirmation "from" address?

Can somebody tell me what portion of the code in order.php needs to be altered for this to work, as well as the code.

Much appreciated.

Re: Order Confirmation "from" address?

I have same problem not with Order Confirmation messages, but with Ask A Question as well. Reply button in a mail client works fine, but when I try to find my reply to clients' questions, mail client can't do this since to it can't match the message and answer due to different addresses in'from' and 'to' fields correspondingly. VERY invonvenient :-(
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Re: Order Confirmation "from" address?

'Figuring this out' is easy, it's the last line of code in order.php.
It is doubtful that you will get the desired effect however, as what you are proposing is to attempt to send email from your hosting co. pretending to be someone who has no connection at all with that hosting co. Mail relaying, spam anybody?
In fact, if the mail were to get through, I would strongly advise you to look for another hosting provider.
Within the bounds of the wise and the legal, could I suggest adding the customers name or similar to the subject of the admin copy of the email?

Re: Order Confirmation "from" address?

Thanks for the explanation, Chuckl. I expected something like this.
My only guess now is why this behaved as I want prior to update to 1.3.6 or 1.3.7...
I'll try to set up my mail client to search answers by 'reply-to' field instead of 'from' one. May be this will help.
Thanks again.
