1.3.37 - Manual State/Province block appears even when not required - ship estimator

On a fresh install of 1.3.37 - when using the shipping estimator, we have found that the block where a user would manually type in his state/or province when selecting a country that does not have a pull down box

appears at time when it is not required (when there IS a pull down box)

Add an item to your cart then use the shipping estimator

You will see the block below the state drop down. It sits justified left and is not accessible until you select any country that DOES NOT have a drop down. Once you do that, it lines back up where it should be an allows you to manually type in a province/state

Looks like you have issues on some files or your template ...

That isn't how it looks in v1.3.7 ...

Did you get your Zen Cart v1.3.7 from our Download link at the top of the screen or from somewhere eles?

What happens if you switch to the Classic Template?

Downloaded the files in the following manner

Click download link at top right of page - this takes you to

Downloaded the one that says

1.3.37 - FULL RELEASE

Will switching templates disrupt any of our current template settings? Want to make sure of this before doing this

It shouldn't ... you are using templates and overrides of your own and Classic uses its own ...

The idea is never the two shall meet ...

Not having touched any core files, you should not have any problems ...

The shipping estimator file is located in template default

I would have to see what your template is doing wrong ...

You can try comparing it with Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com to the Classic template files or the default template files and see if you can locate what it is doing incorrectly ...

But there isn't anything wrong with the code it is something related to your template and override files that is causing this issue ...

Ok, we are using the Blue-strip reloaded template from the contrib on this site

I am figuring that since this is just the one page (shipping estimator) then it has to be related to that file or the CSS file

Will do a beyond compare of the downloaded ship estimator file with one from fresh DL package and also do a comparison of default css and blue strip css referencing the LABEL classes and see what I come up with

Ok, when looking at the default CSS and bluestrip css for the label classes I see

Blue strip

Label, h4.optionName {
line-height: 1em;
padding: 0.1em;
}

Default
Label, h4.optionName {
line-height: 1.5em;
padding: 0.2em;
}

That is the only difference for label classes

Checked the shipping estimator template and found no difference in the virgin file that would cause this (template default vs virgin template default)

Off the top of my head I could not say ...

I do know that it worked in Classic Template and broke in your template ...

Without actually going through your site to see what changes etc. you have done I am shooting in the dark here ...

You could try setting up a test directory with a test database and the demo data ... then load the Blue template you are using and reinstall it on this test site ...

And without touching anything ... see if it works or it breaks ...

Just for grins, compared the CSS file from the CLASSIC template folder and compared the CSS from the template default folder and the CSS from the VIRIGIN install template default

The classic CSS has MANY difference from the two. The two latter match

Good news and bad news ...

Good News: Load blue strip on my site and it breaks the look of the Shipping Estimator like it does on your site ... :smile:

Bad News: Haven't a clue why ... I write code ... :cry:

Most likely ... but I just write the code that uses the CSS and I am afraid that the nuances of this are beyond me so I couldn't tell you the solution ...
