Credit card details help

Hi there, i hope im posting in the correct area, but im after a bit of help or advice.

I have a off-line credit card module installed (CEON) and wondered if there is way of removing the stored credit card details from the database or changing them to 00000s. At present it only stores a few digits at the beginning and a few at the end and the rest are emailed.

I would just feel a bit happier if i could change these to 0's when ive processed the order.

I am familiar with SQL but dont want to do something that could harm my database.

Thankyou

Rob

Re: Credit card details help

One thing you can do is create a test mysql database by exporting your zencart database, with drop tables, and insert.

Then create a new db and import your zencart db into it.

Also have a subdirectory titled test or testcart, whatever.

Now you can test your code without worrying about harming your store.

As for having the numbers changed to 0000's how would that help you? You can just set the field to be encrypted so that the rest of the numbers aren't seen.

Re: Credit card details help

thankyou for your reply, can i ask what exactly this addon does, i havent downloaded or installed it yet as i dont know what it is used for.

The reason i want to turn all the credit card numbers to 000s is for security only, the site handles credit card numbers offline, so once ive received these they dont need to be on the server. I dont want somebody gaining access to either my control panel or the database and extracting information from it.

My admin folder has been renamed, and the folder password protected, so ive done as much as i can here to stop unwanted access.

I might look into generating a SQL query that will change these.

You mentioned something about encrypting the numbers, there is an option under CEON option but i dont have whatever software it needs installed on the server.
