Animated GIF with auto redirect - HELP

The cart I am working on contains extremely large MySQL databases (number of products in the 7 shops is over 200,000). Needless to say that is why we now have 7 shops under a mall instead of a single store. HERE'S MY PROBLEM - I have no diffaculty redirecting to the index.php page of each store. The animated gif displays nicely, however, I can't get the two together and when I do, the page starts to load the gif stops. WHAT I NEED - How can I get the page to continue to load and the gif continue to show that the page is still loading? I've tried this with PHP, JAVA, and HTML. I'm at a loss. Could one of you Zenners help me out of this mess.

The near future will be to tie each cart together and have them all share the same login and customer history information. But one thing at a time.

I dunno, the second link seemed to do what you wanted just fine. Did you get it working since you posted?

No, I've got a lot to figure out before it's right. Linda pointed out that I will have trouble with the spiders once I go live. So what I need to solve is how to get the index page (index.php) to show it is loading with some sort of action that doesn't freeze. It is a real pain to have so many things on my plate with so little time to get it done. But that's not for this forum.

If you noticed, the slider freezes just as soon as MySQL is being queried. So, to get the site spider friendly (to a point), I need to discountiue using the redirect. To many people don't have the sence to look at their browser status bar or other browser indicator showing the page loading status.
