Adding Pages to Information Box

add links to your EZPages in the more_information sidebox as follows:

$more_information[] = '<a href="' . zen_ez_pages_link(1) . '">YOUR_LINK_TEXT</a>';

The highlighted portion is the ID of your EZpage.

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

Hello, I got lost and for sure it is 'cause I am new to all this !!

I downloaded the about us contribution and followed the read me but nothing happened !!

I have an Include folder with others folders in it and I upload the folder and quite sure this is my mistake.
The Read me file says:

  1. Upload all the files to your server, using similar folder structure as found in this ZIP.

It means that I have to upload folder by folder and not has I did?

I would like to have the About us in the more information sidebox so I have to add a line in the more_information.php file?

And as I can create other new pages I just rename them, is it right?

Last thing: as in reality I would like to have an external link and not a new page, can I do using what I downloaded?

Hoping that my problem is clear !!! Sorry for my english!!

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

Hi, I created a new page for the more information box following the wiki instruction and now I have my new page (page 5) but I can not edit it.
I created a define_page_5 based on the fourh and I have access to it from Admin>>>Tools>>Define Page Editor but everything I write in it doesn't show up.
Any ideas, thanks

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

Did you CHMOD the file to be writable. If it is not, in the admin, it will tell you it is not writable, and you should make it writable to be able to edit and save.

Thank you for the replay but as I am quite new to all this what does it mean CHMOD ?

As I took the define_page_4.php and renamed define_page_5.php to have it in the Define Page Editor I can see the text that was belonging to the page 4 but not seeing it on my new page and as I said to able to edit.

Got the solution for what I wanted, just in a message top of the page. I saw it million times but then I got lost in all the codes doing something else.

Anyway still don't know what CHMOD means?

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

marcap, no problem. CHMOD is a term for changing the attributes of a file on your site, where it is hosted. Usually a hosting company has a tool called cPanel where you can administer your site. cPanel includes a file manager where you can change file attributes. Also most FTP applications like Filezilla, Smart FTP, and the like let you CHMOD a file. If you uploaded your files to a host, then you have one of these I assume.

Also, in the define pages editor, if you select a file that is not writable in the editor, it should display a message that it is not writable, and therefore you will not be able to save any changes in the file until it is made writable. In CHMOD terms, writable is usually a 777 attribute (I am talking unix/linux server here, not windows/asp). I think this should be all in the About Us contribution readme file.

Another thought would be to abandon the About Us contribution and use the EZ-Pages tools that is included in Zencart 1.3.7, or as a contrib for earlier versions. I am moving all my About Us pages to this. With this you can control all extra pages right in the zen admin without having to worry about file structure, etc. You may want to start reviewing the docs on this.

Hope it helps and makes sense.

Yes thank you. I created all my new pages with the EZ-Pages tools and added them to the more information box. Very easy thing to do.
Thanks again.

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

I have added a new defines page using the about us mod instructions. I've called it "Shop by Manufacturer".

My question is, how do I call the manufacturer info to populate the new page (or page 2, or page 3, etc.)? Is there a require once statement I can use, or something along those lines?

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

I am trying to add About Us in the Information box and I get this error message.:(

Warning: main(includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_about_us_default.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/sandra/public_html/cart/includes/templates/sage/common/tpl_main_page.php on line 114

Warning: main(includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_about_us_default.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/sandra/public_html/cart/includes/templates/sage/common/tpl_main_page.php on line 114

Warning: main(includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_about_us_default.php) [function.main]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/sandra/public_html/cart/includes/templates/sage/common/tpl_main_page.php on line 114

Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_about_us_default.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/sandra/public_html/cart/includes/templates/sage/common/tpl_main_page.php on line 114

Can anyone help me? I really am new and am trying my best to get my cart the way I would like it. I am not happy about having a more information sidebox, I would rather just add everything to the information.php, but don't understand how to do that.

Also how do I change the name of more information? If it isn't too difficult and simple for me to change?

Thanks
Sandra

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

Sandra,

A quick answer to your last question is to first make sure you have a copy of the english.php file that resides in the /includes/languages dir in your custom dir (includes/languages/CUSTOM) so you won't overwrite english.php during a Zen upgrade...then search for:

define('BOX_HEADING_INFORMATION', 'Information');

in your includes/languages/CUSTOM/english.php file. Change the 'Information' to whatever you want and that will be the header for the box. Same for the More Information box...that should be a couple of lines below:

define('BOX_HEADING_MORE_INFORMATION', 'More Information');

See my link below as I have renamed my boxes to Customer Service and Services.

Also, in the "unset($more_information);" section of the english.php is where you can add links for the box. There should be some there already, so you can copy them and change. Make sure all is just right with uploading the proper files for the about us contrib to work. I think that might clear up some of your errors.

I am a little rusty on this contrib, as per my previous posts here, I moved to the EZPages contrib built into v1.37. Make it much easier to create custom pages on the fly....hope it helps

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

Sandra,

Glad it worked out. I always found with that contrib you really had to follow precisely where all the files went. Usually the cause of most problems when something is off just a bit.

Again, if you are running zen 1.37, EZPages is soooo much easier and built in. For version before 1.37, there should be a ezpages contrib still out there.

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

One More Question:

I have page 2, 3, and 4. I made them into different pages and they work on the more information section, they still have the page name of page 2, 3 and 4, but the link has different wording on them. How do I move them from that section to the information section. After I do that, I will be good on this subject. lol

Like I said, I am new and am trying to understand all the shortcuts and wording used to help.

Thanks
Sandra

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

I have added a new page to the information box, Sizing Guide, which can be viewed here http://www.lingerieimports.co.nz/sizing.html

The problem that I am having with it, is that sometime while I was trying to make it all work I changed something and now all of the defined pages have the same Sizing Guide title. Please click on any of the information pages, e.g shipping, privacy, conditions. Not all are finished yet.

Please could someone tell me where I might look to fix this problem.
So far, I have checked the files listed in the store manager search for sizing guide, and they all seem to concur with the "about us" addon.

Thanks in advance.

I have tried this quite a few times. It makes sense to me that if I add define('BOX_INFORMATION_PAGE_5', 'PAGE TITLE'); then I should get a new page in the Define Pages Editor.

However that is not the case but marcap reckons he/she got it to work. Could you tell me how you did that please?

Thank you.

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

Also, I added the About Us mod to try and add a new page to my site instead of my previous post but I swear, it just does nothing.

I uploaded the files and renamed everything required to what I want to call it. I tried adding it to the info box which is not where I want it to be but for the sake of getting it to work, I did anyway and it still does not show.

I see a lot of ppl say they have the same prob, just trying to add a new lousy page. How can it be so difficult? And the EZ-Pages....? They ain't that EZ!

Where am I going wrong?
Thank you in advance for any help.

Re: Adding Pages to Information Box

I've just installed this mod, and the About us page link is there and all working.
It's easy!
Although, it has knocked out the formatting in the 'Information' box now, so that all the different links aren't below one another.... Any ideas what I need to change to fix this?
