Free shipping (again) over X amount - UK Royal Mail

I think I must have been hiding behind the door when the brains were being given out.

I am trying to set the cart to allow free shipping if an order is over a set price (not wieght based) but if under that price it will allocate to a weight based flat rate structure. Not offer my customer three else four options as to how they want it shipping as it does at the minute.
How do I remove the multiple options?

Then to take into account with the requirement not to charge the customer until shipped. I have Found the FAQ -and read the other threads here. It refers to a payment module, - I presume in zen:

1. Set the payment module into "Authorize Payment" mode (not "Capture" or "Charge" mode).
   But after 4 hours of hunting, I seem to be missing the obvious again..

In the Modules ... Order Totals ... Shipping ot_shipping there is a setting to have Free Shipping on Orders over XX.XX ...

Yes thanks for that, but enabled before posting, even so still getting three options.

Saw this post and am hoping what I have pertains to the same thing?

I am offering free shipping across the board for US and out of country unless the order goes to $200.00 then I want to charge for Global priority only out of the US with the shipping estimator? Can this be done and If so can you walk me through it? I have had no luck trying to set this up.

What shipping modules are you trying to do this with?

Free Shipping Options could be cloned to manage shipping for the US and for the World separately ...

Then, when the limit is reached ... for the Rest of the world another shipping module would run ...

I haven't established a shipping module yet , I'm not sure of the steps needed to take to organize my shipping this way.
I did go in and set up the free shipping options and free shipping but that is all.

This is the first time I have to set up a non standard shipping system and I am at a loss.

Free Shipping freeshipper is very different from Free Shipping Options freeoptions

Free Shipping freeshipper is designed for when products are marked Always Free Shipping or 0 weight and 0 weight is configured to mean Free Shipping in the Shipping/Packaging ... and runs by itself as it turns off the other shipping modules ...

Free Shipping Options freeoptions is designed to offer a Free Shipping Alternative to other shipping modules such as UPS or USPS or Zones etc.

This allows the customer to select Free shipping or pick a faster, more expensive method ...

So from your description it sounds as if Free Shipping Options freeoptions is what I need to go with since shipping wont always be free (over $200.00 gets charged shipping) is this correct?

If that is the case how do I tell one shipping module to stop working and one to pick up the slack at the proper time. ($200.00 charge)

First create your zones ...

US Shipping

Is this all of the US? As in All 50 states, DC, US territories, Islands, Armed Forces?

Rest of the World Shipping
This would be everything the US Shipping is not ...

If you then cloned the Free Shipping Options freeoptions to freeoptionsworld and replaced all instances of:
freeoptions with freeoptionsworld
FREEOPTIONS with FREEOPTIONSWORLD

You would have 2 Free Shipping Options modules but one would use the US Shipping zone and the other would use the Rest of the World Shipping zone ...

Now they can be setup with difference settings for the Free Shipping to show ...

Then, for the Rest of the World Shipping Zone you would enable another shipping module to manage what happens after the 200.00 ...

Cloning is not hard ... you just take the two files that belong to a shipping module:
/includes/modules/shipping/freeoptions.php
/includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/freeoptions.php

And copy them to the new name you will be using:
/includes/modules/shipping/freeoptionsworld.php
/includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/freeoptionsworld.php

Then edit the files and do the global replaces that I listed above ...

Build the Zones for each ... and then test them ...

I think I have the same issue as the OP and my hapless searching hasn't been successful.

I want two options: buy less than X, you get Flat Rate, buy more than X you get Free. I setup "Free Shipping Options" and I see the free pop up during checkout on the orders worth over X, but it is presented along with the Flat Rate option. I would like to hide the Flat Rate option when Free is triggered. Can this be done?

That is when you should instead use the Modules ... Order Totals ... Shipping ...

Turn on the Free Shipping on Orders over XX.XX

I also found out that it helps to turn off all other options in the Shipping Module aside from the flat rate.

A slightly different question but always about free shipping (freeshipper).

I want, only for certain products, to have free shipping for them but only in a particular zone. Who order these products from another zone has the usual shipping methods to choose from.

How to? If I flag always free shipping and setup freeshipper to use only in zone A, it works correctly for people from zone A, but people from all other zones, can no more place the order (sorry no shipping for this place (don't remember exact words, but you understood, right?))

That makes it more complicated ...

There isn't anything built in to make products free shipping on a per product per zone basis ...

You would need some additional coding to manage the shipping for free shipping for the zone and something to manage regular shipping for those outside the zone ...

It could be done, but it would take quite a bit of custom coding and a better detailed explination of the conditions for this ...
