Adding same attribute w/ image to all products?

I'm attempting to add the same attribute to all my products (through Admin>Catalog>Attribute controller). Everything is fine if I add the attribute one at a time... but I have over 500 products :(. I've tried "easy populate" but that just seems to take the image (Attributes Image Swatch) off. Is there a script I can run? I've searched through mysql and can't find anything referencing the image. I'm running 1.3.6. Thanks in advance for the help!

You can copy the Product Attributes from 1 Product to another Product ... or from 1 Product to a Category of Products in the Attributes Controller ...

I'm having a similar problem but none of the other threads seem to help.

My products have different attributes some of which are affected by price. I have added a new attribute with 40 options which will be universal to almost all the products. I can't find a way to copy this new attribute to all the products (and then delete the one or two that I don't want).

First of all I set up the new attribute in one product then copied it to another product but it copied all the attributes of the first product some of which were not applicable to the 2nd product. So I set up a dummy product with just the new attribute and copied that to the next product but all the original attributes were then deleted and I was just left with the new one.

So could anybody advise how to copy one new attribute to all the products without affecting all the other attributes?

Just to help you with what I mean:

www.elleart.co.uk Artemis has the new 'Crystal Colour' attribute which is relevant to almost all the other products but the different designs have different options and they're not all universal. (Hope I've explained that OK)

I'm sorry, ignore the above. I found a radio button to select which says 'only copy new attribute'. I did spend an hour looking and trying different things before I posted this! Sod's law, lol.
