please help me i'm zen illiterate

You can't just use the cart functions of ZC. You would still have to template ZC to look like your site. You can use your current html pages and just point the sidebar button to the correct ZC categories. You wouldn't have any use for your current product pages though as ZC will take over that function and your info pages could be lifted completely and dropped into ezpages. If you going to do that much work why not go all the way. I know when we put a lot of work into a project it is difficult to "let go" but in this case your not really letting go, your just using what you already have created to skin the cart. Even your main page could be translated to ZC and look the same. The only other option would be to use mals' ecommerce or a paypal shopping cart to make the "add to cart" buttons function for purchasing, but then you get to manage all of the backend stuff yourself instead of letting zen cart do it for you. Do you really want to edit html every time there is a product change or when adding products?

Have you installed ZC? If you haven't install it in a subdirectory of your current site. Actually read the install directions in the docs folder to become familiar with the process. You'll need to create the database...remember to write down the DB name and username/password....you'll need them during the ZC configuration. These are things that need to be done before we can get started with the template system. Oh, don't load the demo products during the install.

Once the cart is installed, we'll work on setting up your custom template.

Cheryl, I will be more than happy to get you going. I'm sure Mike is as willing to help you as I am. It's not as big an undertaking as you may think. There is a learning curve, but before you know it, you'll have a ZC site that looks like your current site. It'll be much easier to maintain and modify than you think.

I know you're feeling :shocking: at the moment. We've all been there. Just do as Mike has suggested and install ZC in its own directory. You and I are in the same time zone and I'm usually around during working hours. We'll have you Zenned in no time. :wink2:
