Downloads stopped working today

I tested and retested my downloads and everything has been working fine, until today. The green light is on, the files are in the right place, nothing has changed...but I went to test it again today and it looked like it was trying to download index.php instead of the correct .zip file.

When I click on the link I get a 500 internal server error that says:
Most likely causes:

• <LI id=causeSiteMaintenance>The website is under maintenance.
• The website has a programming error.Any suggestions on what I should do to fix this? Thanks for your help and suggestions.

This is a 'catch-all' error generated by your Web server. The Web server should generate some kind of internal error log which gives more details of what went wrong. Contact your host operators of your Web server site and ask them to locate and analyse these logs.

Thanks for your response. I contacted my host and I'm still waiting for a response from them...seems strange that it was working originally and now it isn't.

I was getting 500 errors downloading zip files too... our fix was that we Disabled GZip Compression on the server and at my store.

It's in the Configure tab.
