Why zencart is cutting my package ?

Hello,

I set my max weight shipping per box at 23, I tried to take 2x12kg boxes and it's making a package of 23kg and one of 1kg.

My box are "uncuttable", I can't put a part of it in another box it's a full box of 12Kg.

I want them to be 2x12kg.

thank you

Re: Why zencart is cutting my package ?

Now I must be missing something here...but if your max weight per box is 12kg, why have you set it at 23kg?

Re: Why zencart is cutting my package ?

I don't think that's the issue, Ryk.

Here's how I understand it:

The max weight per box is 23kg.

A customer orders two items. Item A weighs 20kg. Item B weighs 10kg. The shipping (or whatever) is splitting the order into two boxes: one 23kg and one 7kg, but if the two items are each a single piece, that's not possible.

How do you have the items configured, Kodam?

Re: Why zencart is cutting my package ?

Here are my shipping packaging option :

Shipping/packaging

Country of Origin : France
Postal Code : 62000
Enter the Maximum Package Weight you will ship : 23
Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight : 0:0.18
Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight : 0:0.18
Display Number of Boxes and Weight Status : 3
Order Free Shipping : 0
Weight Status : 0
Shipping Estimator Display Settings for Shopping Cart : 1

"How do you have the items configured, Kodam?"

Sorry but I don't really what you mean by configured the items :D each one individually in the categories/products or do you mean general setting like above ?

thank you

Re: Why zencart is cutting my package ?

I think you might have to change
Display Number of Boxes and Weight Status : 3
to
*Display Number of Boxes and Weight Status : 2 *.

Does the customer need to see the number of boxes?

Well, I was thinking that if you were selling something that came in a case (say, 12 items each weighing 1kg), you might have it listed as the individual item, not as a case, but that's probably not the issue. I think if you turn off the number of boxes display, you'll probably be ok.

Re: Why zencart is cutting my package ?

Because none of my clients have used the Shipping Boxes, I've just checked in "the manual" (my copy of e-Start Your Web Store with ZenCart), and you have come across a known problem (which I would guess is being addressed in a future release).

To quote "Due to the potential miscalculation .... it is advisable that you do not show customers any information on shipping boxes when they are checking out"

Re: Why zencart is cutting my package ?

So there no real solution like a checkbox in a product sheet to tick to say "this product go alone in 1 box".

The number of boxes is now hidden but it's still the same problem just hidden.

If I refer to what Ryk quoted all I have to do is wait.

I can't change my shipping/packaging settings because they are meant for multi little items order.

thank you :p

Re: Why zencart is cutting my package ?

So there no real solution At present, that is correct.

But - out of curiosity - why is it so important? Unless there is an essential reason for the customer to know how many boxes there are, surely you will be packaging for the "best fit"?

It seems to me that it woud be simple enough to let the customer know how many boxes to expect by email. I know it's an extra step, but since you already know how the items are packaged (or will be packaged), so it's not that difficult.

That's a tough bug to find.
