Header wider than Body

I am looking at the forum head and the log has been set to 100% wide yet the logo it self is kept inside the same width constraints as the body of the forum. I would like to add something like this to my site. How can I do that?

How can I do that?
Start by looking at the view source for this site and you will see that the wings of the header are in tables placed correctly
