CSS Dropdown menu for the header- With Categories!

jgg1974:

Hello , love the ad on !! I was wondering if it is possible to have the drop down menu extend a little further down? I have a lot of products and when the menu drops down , it cuts off a lot of my products...my website is

http://jygoods.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1326_1330

that is where you can see the categories and how it doesnt drop down all the way...

And one more issue, when i click on information in the menubar, it brings me to the shops original homepage and not the information page,

thanks for any help...
:bigups:
Sorry, that is a limitation of this mod, it doesn't work well with a lot of categories.

There is no "information" page.

Re: CSS Dropdown menu for the header- With Categories!

Good afternoon jettrue, I'd like to thank and commend you on the mod, it's an awesome and very functional addon. But WTF is it with the about us page!!?? (jokes, jokes)

So, I've gone through the steps and installed the applicable files into their applicable places, and the menu is looking great, working awesome, everyone's happy, birds are singing, rainbows abound.

Then, as is the usual course of events, I open the site in IE, curse, and look for a solution.

(you, reader, can view the site here: http://store.persite.com )

The menubar works, the a:hover works, but the menu itself won't fly out. Considering this is the bulk majority of its purpose, and IE is the bulk majority of our installed base, this is something that I'd need to get working at some point.

I've followed your advice, and added the following to my .htaccess

RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^http://store.persite.com$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.store.persite.com/$1 [R=301,L]
AddType text/x-component .htc

What happens if I make it ^www.store.persite.com$ and http://store.persite.com/$1 ? Same thing. /shrug

So, what's causing my grief? I would love to keep this working in its current iteration!

Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance.

Re: CSS Dropdown menu for the header- With Categories!

I spent several hours on this tonight and got the menu up and running. I have a site set at a width of 747px though and am having a terrible time figuring out the css file.

The tentative site is listed here: https://www.cornerstonewebsites.com/zencart/index.php.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: CSS Dropdown menu for the header- With Categories!

Thanks for responding. I am looking at IE and in Firefox, but the menu items are squished together and left justified. I can't figure out how to make these four items and their drop-downs span the entire width of the 747 px mainWrapper.

OK, I finally figured out how to line up the parent row of menu items, but how do I center them and add padding before/after the vertical line. I tried padding left and right and could only get it on the left side.

I am also wondering how to left justify the child links.

Re: CSS Dropdown menu for the header- With Categories!

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with my CSS Dropdown menu. It is installed OK and works OK but I have just embedded a flash file on my homepage and the dropdown menue goes behind the flash image. Is there any way to make the Dropdown come to the front and the flash images go to the back.

Thanks in advance.:frusty::frusty:

Try searching this thread for 'flash' and look for 'z-index'.

Altering the z-index should sort it out.

Re: CSS Dropdown menu for the header- With Categories!

I did not see this question posted anywhere, but it probably has been asked. I have a lot of categories and am using the css drop down menu - is there a way to expand the categories into a box with columns instead of listing all the categories in one long list?

I am also hoping this is possible.

Hmmm, your demo site shows things the way I would like them displayed.

I tried reinstalling this mod from the Apple Zen theme, and it didnt fix the problem.

Can someone please take a look at http://www.nsxgaming.com/shop and tell me what I might be doing wrong? Thanks!!

Re: CSS Dropdown menu for the header- With Categories!

I'm feeling really dumb. I've only been developing CMS sites for 10 years and this CSS drop down has me stumped. I can't even get it to display. I have installed/uninstalled, changed directories, and created new versions of the Template with new names... none of it works. The Template is the New Deluxe Boot Store from the Zen Cart templates site.

The site in question is still under construction and there's probably not much it can tell you anyway. One thing I noticed was the complete lack of an .htaccess file... so I skipped that step. Everything else I did by the book.

Any help is greatly appreciated. It looks awesome everywhere else.

Thanks

Two questions for ya:

1)In your includes/configure.php file, do you have your site listed with or without the www?

2) Did you upload includes/csshover.htc?

This is not normal behavior. Make sure you have the latest version downloaded, and reupload the files.

Sorry, I'm not psychic. I've also installed this mod on many sites, with no issues. Re-read the readme.txt, and try again, is my only advice.

Re: CSS Dropdown menu for the header- With Categories!

Thanks for the reply. My install of ZenCart was via the hosts CP wizard. I checked and it was the most current version of ZenCart. However... I can not find a single .htaccess file in the entire program.

Is .htaccess crucial for the Dropdown menu to run or is it more of a security issue?

Here's the site... https://www.bearhollowtradingpost.com

I would like to exhaust all my options before wiping everything out and starting again because there are other functioning HTTPS domains in sub directories that I don't want to disturb. ZenCart is installed in the root. On my first attempt I changed all the YOUR_TEMPLATE directories to template_default. Once I noticed it was not working I double checked with the "Files Included in CSS Flyout Header and manually traced and sent files where needed.

Finally... I created a new template folder named zct_boot_store, re-loaded all the template files, activated the template in the ZenCart CP, check to make sure the sidebox was set to ON... still got nothing.

At this time I am working in FireFox, but will fine tune for MSIE when I get it running in FF first.

Is there anything I am missing?

Thanks

Stan

As I mentioned I am using Apple Zen, which is the latest version.

I have not modified the drop down menu and even to be sure I re-uploaded the tpl_drop_menu.php to /shop/includes/templates/apple_zen/common/

I am really at a loss as to why it's doing this, or how to fix it.
