DHL shipping calc error for "next afternoon"

Hi there,

We're running 1.3.5 with the security patch. This problem concerns the DHL shipping module calculating shipping by "Next Afternoon" method.

DHL Ground is the method used on 99% of our orders, and that calculates fine. However, we just had our first order ever to select the "Next Afternoon" delivery option.

The DHL shipping module calculated the 7lb package for next day delivery as a $1.00 shipping charge - obviously not correct!

Any suggestions/solutions? For now I've just disabled that option, since it's barely ever used anyway, but it would be nice to allow customers the option and have it work properly.

Please let me know if there's any other information I need to provide that would help someone help me.

Much thanks!

Re: DHL shipping calc error for "next afternoon"

Did you ever figure out what was causing this?? I am having the same problem.

I just disabled the Next Afternoon option in my admin shipping module for DHL.

A fix would be nice though, I called DHL and they have no clue.

Re: DHL shipping calc error for "next afternoon"

Well, I found out that DHL's shipping estimator was giving the same error, and neither DHL's customer support nor tech support could do anything except refer me to the other.
There are a couple of different places on DHL where you can get rate estimates, and one of them worked, and one didn't. So it seems like unfortunately the ZenCart part is linked to the part of DHL that isn't working right for that method.
That's my estimation anyway. I've just left it disabled, because it seems to be an issue with DHL that they can't/don't care about fixing, rather than an issue with ZenCart. I don't know if there's any way to fix the ZenCart DHL shipping module to use the other DHL shipping estimator or not - that's beyond my technical ability.

I am also having problems with DHL. I was wondering if you could provide a link to the shipping estimator on DHL's site that does not work correctly. I could find only one link at SHIP/VIEW TRANSIT TIMES.

Re: DHL shipping calc error for "next afternoon"

In my experience - when you go to the "ship/prepare a shipment" screen and put in all the information, then before the end, select "get estimated rates," that doesn't come up properly. It either hasn't come up at all, or I've had it show 0 or $1 rates for services other than ground shipping.

The one that works is under just "ship/get rates." You don't put in all the full address and so forth, just zip codes and package weight, and when I've used that it shows appropriate rates. But, the former option seems to be what's connected to the zencart mod, unfortunately. I don't know for sure, but the same incorrect rates show up both places, so that makes me feel that that is the connection.

When I called DHL, tech support referred me to customer service, who referred me back to tech, and apparently neither felt they were responsible or had any idea that there was a problem or how to solve it. They just said use the "get rates," which is great, but if that isn't how the zen cart mod works, it isn't going to help in this application. Unless there's a way and someone kind enough to work on the zen DHL mod to make it take its shipping estimates from the "get rates" method on DHL's site.

Hope that helps - it's all the information I have. I'm pretty confident I know what the problem is, but I don't have a solution, other than disabling options other than ground shipping in my zen cart.
