State Tax

hello,

I am having trouble finding out how to NOT TAX orders made outside of the state the store is setup in (Mississippi).

I have tried playing around with the zone and tax information and the only results i can get is that I can either:

1. tax all states the same rate or
2. orders from out of state cannot be processed (will not go to step two of checkout)

does anyone know how i can correct this? do i have to define each state one at a time?

Please help.

First- remove all of the taxt zones and definitions you have now and re-do your tax set up using this tutorial: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=76

i did exactly what you said and now i cant get to step two in the checkout from either an out-of-state or an in-state account.

Any ideas?

Ok I finally got it. I had to go to Configuration>My Store>Product Tax and choose "store" as the basis of taxation instead of "shipping" or "billing"
