Login AND Checkout problems on new site

I hope you can help.
I've read as much as I can find here on the forums, and so far, nothing has helped our problem...
We have a brand new site - that has had 8500 hits just today. We've successfully received over 60 orders - but I've heard from about 10-15 users/customers that they:

1. Can't login - they're told their email address doesn't match, or is already on file, or something like that

or

2. Can't check out - they get all the way through, and bounced back.

I have the hosted domain name masked - and someone suggested that it could be Norton blocking that combined with the CC processing going to a 3rd party site. It's a thought for the second problem, but not for the first.

ISP doesn't seem to be consistent - neither does browser - we use FF, IE6 and IE7 internally with no issues.

I actually ran into the first problem myself, after "forgetting" my password, and entering the new one the first time. I then cleared my cache, and everything was ok.

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.
