problem with upload product image directory

I would like that all the images i upload on products get into directory "r-products", I can't find where to enter that the default upload product image directory for "Product - General" to be "r-products" directory.

Where can i do this?

I would also like to know how i can easy search for products made as General, and for products made as Documents. Where can i do that?

One more thing, about backupping the webshop, how can i easily backup the webshop? Would be easiest if able to backup on the server without the need to download it via FTP program rename foldername and reupload it, hence some files might loose their CHMOD rights.

thanks
Dejan

Re: problem with upload product image directory

1st creat a folder "r-products" in your images folder... then when you are adding your product and you select the image... you can then select which folder to put it in... the default is main directory but it is a drop down listing all the folders inside images...

2nd I dont get your second question.. search looks for everything that fits that criteria... advance search limits categories etc....

3rd.. check with your isp...i can make a backup of every site i own with them. The only drawback is they must upload it in the event of a problem... but it keeps all the permissions the same since this is one of your concerns.... btw... I am not referring to db backup... actuall website backup... make sure you specify the difference....

Re: problem with upload product image directory

can't I somehow enter a setting so that the main directory for product image upload directory is "r-products" instead of "main directory"? I don't want to need to scroll down on the drop down list to click r-products. Is this possible to get to work?

little clearance about question number two :blush: ; now when i have played with my webshop trying to learn all the functions and usefullness it has, i made 20 products as product type "Product - General" and 10 products as product type "Document - Product". The products i made with same info so i cant tell them apart..
I can see the amount of each product type when i press and stand on them under CATALOG/PRODUCT TYPES. But!, i somehow cant filter out the document product types from the general product types. so i can delete the document types. How to do?

By the way, how come the text says on all product types "IMAGE DOES NOT EXIST" i tried to upload a picture, it was uploaded, the picture was shown under that product type when pressed EDIT, that product type still says "IMAGE DOES NOT EXIST" even though i have a picture there, how come? Last question is; whats this image for? What do i need it for?

thanks

**Not without messing with the code... and that may be more trouble
than its worth.. try adding easy populate to your zencart... it is in the download section. you can set the image location there . the default location is the main directory (images) so you would type this /r-products/image.jpg and simply upload the images via ftp to that directory... i added all 2876 items to my site this way... way cool and way easy....

**uh... i don't get why you would a) make duplicate products in general and documents and b) why you now need to tell them apart since you were checking out the features.. please elaborate...

when you hit preview do you see the picture??? when uploading the picture are you using the right directory...? is it uploading.... large files take some time to upload....? cut and paste your admin window to explain more...

what image? i dunno what image it is?
thanks

you're welcome.......:smartass::smartass::smartass::smartass::smartass::smartass:

Re: problem with upload product image directory

hello again :)

i've looked for the easy populate addon,
can't find it in the zencart downloads page,

only thing i found was this thread in the forum;
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22180

but is this for 1.3.7 also?
just making sure so i dont do some damage to my webshop if wrong version. :D

about the general and documents products; i didn't make them exactly the same, more same types, i made a feed carhoods as general products, and a couple as product documents, same thing with bumpers for cars, some as general and some as documents. I didnt notice any difference when looking at them logged in as a customer. Some time later i forgot which products i made of which type, and wanted to delete the documents type, but couldn't find a way to separate theese apart from the general products (wanted to keep the general products, and delete the documents products and redo the documents products as general products aswell.)

thanks
