Minimum Login details?

Hi all,

I know I should have spent hours searching and wading through the faq's, but I'm trying the direct approach:

I really hate having to log in to a site to use it, but I have read that with zencart at the moment at least it's not possible. I assume that a prospective customer can browse without logging in..............(?)

What I would like to know is this: - what are the minimum login details I can ask of someone? I'm making an assumption again, that any absoloutely vital details will be given when I get an actual sale.

Or am I missing something somewhere ?:dontgetit

Chris.

so new it's embarassing

Re: Minimum Login details?

May I suggest that you start by installing a test site on your own machine/server first. Play around with all the settings and make some dummy purchases. You will learn a whole lot about the functions and abilities of Zen-Cart this way.

Re: Minimum Login details?

Chris,

Several things are capable of being toggled off in the admin > config > Customer Details

Your customer can shop, add to cart, and only need to "login" (read this provide details) upon checkout and these can be reduced to mostly the basics need to know where to ship this order and this also prevents, to some extent, bogus purchases

Re: Minimum Login details?

I've turned everything off that I can in the configuration, but still it asks my "customers" for Mr.Ms.*, Last Name: *, Street Address: *, City: *, Post/Zip Code: *, Country: *, and Additional Contact Details Telephone: *

I just want First Name: *, email, and password.

I guess I have to edit the code?

Re: Minimum Login details?

I hope this doesn't sound rude, but what difference does it make? I want "customers" to be able to log in and contribute to the site, but I don't want them to have to provide their address or any other extraneous info. That can be done, can it not?

Re: Minimum Login details?

It looks like I'll have to edit a javascript file, but it's not an external js. I am quite confused.

Re: Minimum Login details?

I'm sorry, scrums. If you ever get the info, I wouldn't mind a PM. I'll skedaddle now.
