Zencart Templates

Hi

It amazes me how some people use seem to actually promote Zencart templates as their own.

rentacart.co.uk/templates/

The people above are posting on an ebay forum.

Have the developers always had this happen? ie; Zencart items being passed off as somebody else's?

i just hate to see this as I find that the fact this amazing software is free and has free support, is fantastic in today's money grabbing society.

Just my 10 cents worth

Well, from what I understand, since Zen Cart is open source, web developers can in essence pass off zen cart as their own, as long as they keep the copyright information inside the php pages, I don't think they're doing anything wrong. And since I've given the templates I designed freely, I'm not upset about it. From their screen shots, at least on my nifty template, it looks like they've left my link in the footer. And they do have "Powered by Zen Cart" in their demo footer.

So to me, they're a business offering web store "setup", using zen cart as the store. Not much different than what I do really, except I specifically say "I use zen cart" for store setups.

I would just like to comment on this post & to the original OP.

I am the owner of rentacart.co.uk and im sure it was you who asked me on the ebay forum if these templates were from the zencart download site and i openly replied yes!

I have nothing to hide, Storecart Web Services does not make any money from these templates. Storecart Web Services does NOT take any credit for the templates and all links to the original designer are still in place along with the template info php file.

A lot of our client like the templates avaliable from the zencart download section but they would not feel confident uploading it themselves. We have simply added the templates for them just like anyone could if they visit the zencart download section.

Storecart Web Services is a web hosting company and thats how we make our money, from hosting and setting up websites I dont class the software as our own and if you look at our about rentacart page you will see it even states we use zen-cart. We have tried Cubecart & OS commerce but beleive zencart is the best by far.

If any of the template owners do not wish me to use the template, please pm me and i will remove it

Re: Zencart Templates

just an observation:unsure:. why pay £14.99 (9.4.08) on ebay when you can get zen templates for free. who is selling ? - Storecart Services and the sexypink is £6.99.
