My Checkout Without Account Mod

dw08gm:

Is anyone aware of any issues between COWOA & the OzPost or AustPost (now obsolete) shipping modules.

If anyone here is using both modules, tips or tricks would be appreciated.

TIA

The only difference between COWOA and regular checkout is one page. That is the page at the very beginning where they type their name/address, etc. (no_account). The shipping and payment pages have nothing to do with COWOA.

craftzombie,
I like the condensed look of your no_account php page. You removed all the containers and added everything into one box. Do I edit the php file for this look or is this handled in another file? thanks in advance :)

I edited tpl_modules_no_account.php to make it look like that. You can download mine here if you like:

http://craftzombie.com/zencart/tpl_modules_no_account.zip

It may not be exactly what you want and I may have fields missing that you wanted to keep, but you'll be able to get an idea of what I did.

Hi CraftZombie

I found this mod after FastEasyCheckout reported conflicts with AustPost, and subsequent corres revealed similar problems may also exist with the AustPost Successor OzPost. Once bitten twice shy as they say.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod

I am not new to Zen Cart or new to installing Zen add-ons, but this one is giving me fits.

I have made sure that all the files are uploaded into the correct directories. I have uploaded the SQL patch. But when I go to Layout Settings there is no "split login page" option. I have gone over it a dozen times. It is not there.

Have I done something silly here?

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod

glwm,

Go to admin -> Configuration -> Layout Settings -> Use split Login option. This is the second to last option on the list. Set this to true.

I just did a clean install of ZC 1.3.8a on a test site and on that install the split-login option IS there.

The site in question IS current at 1.3.8a but somehow the layout screen is messed up. Either a past upgrade went wrong or some other add-on is effecting the layout options.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod

I have most of my product available as a Download. With COWA after the order is placed a download link shows up. If they close out of that screen without downloading they wont get it. Is there anyway that the download link can be added to the confirmation email?

Hi Pavel,

You can see which customer has used COWOA by installing an add-on found here:

http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpost.php?p=361670&postcount=186

It will add a column to the customers table as seen here:

http://craftzombie.com/images/cowoa.jpg

I am hoping this is what you are asking!

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod

Thank you fo reply, but I mean when I work with orders - Im click on
http://www.nail1.eu/admin/orders.php?selected_box=customers&status=2

And orders.php not changed - I can not see what order from customer without account... I need more attention to notregistered customers
Need call him to confirm big order, cose everyone can fill order form without registration

it is not good idea every time check in customers menu if this order from registered customer or not. I can see it in orders side... (better to see it in order side )

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod

Checkout Without Account Mod problem found

Hi, dear all. I'm using COWOA(1.3.8) with Zen Cart 1.3.8a.

If a person once checks out without an account, there will be no problem for him/her sign up with a regular account with the same email address used for the checkout without an account option.

However, when the he/she login with his/her regular account and try to the change the account information like the name or telephone by pressing update. There will be a warning like that

"Our system already has a record of that email address - please try logging in with that email address. If you do not use that address any longer you can correct it in the My Account area."

It seems that with the email address used firstly COWOA and then signed up for a regular account poses this problem.

Maybe this has been discussed before. Please somebody helps. Thanks a lot!

Yes a person can use a COWOA email address to sign up for a non-COWOA account later on, but no.... a person cannot change their regular account email address to an email address used previously for COWOA (unless you have deleted that COWOA account). The person who wrote the mod wrote it in a way that allows a duplicate email during sign up and he probably didn't think about the problem you are discussing.

Remember that this mod doesn't really create a true COWOA account because Zen itself isn't created that way. The purpose of the mod is to fool the customer into thinking they are not creating an account. Personally, I delete all of my COWOA customers from the database as soon as I process their order. If you did the same, you wouldn't have the problem you are asking about. The customer would be able to use that COWOA email address when changing regular account info. I know this is probably not the "fix" you are asking for, but there is no one who knows Zen code that is willing to make COWOA do what everyone wants. We are pretty much stuck with it the way it is.

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod

Dear friends - It is crazy idea to delete customer from databaze after you send one order....

We work - make shop, pay advertising and now we have customer who is dummy in PC and for him easy to send order without registration. It is ok and no problem for me.

But why I need delete him from database? i can send him emails. Can see how many goods hi order. I have statistics and can sell him more and more. It is marketing.

It is our customers - we can not delete this contacts. It is crazy idea.... really....

I plane use COWOA one month and compare conversion.... I can switch on and off my COWOA mod.

There are other ways to keep in contact with customers (newsletters, for example). A customer who uses COWOA does so for a reason. They don't want their information stored. They don't want you to spam them. I NEVER send any additional information to a customer unless they sign up for my newsletter, place additional orders, etc. Maybe its just me. Also, deleting them from the customers table is not the same as deleting them from the orders table. You can delete them as a customer but their order will remain and there would be no issues with duplicate emails, etc.

Perhaps Zen Cart isn't for you and you would rather pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for someone to create a cart tailored for you.

P.S. I don't consider a customer to be a "dummy" if they prefer COWOA.

Dear craftzombie,

Your kind explanation is much appreciated. But deleting customsers who once use COWOA is really not a good idea, so eventually, I have to give up using COWOA. Hope this problem can sooner or later be solved so that COWOA can be much generally used on Zen Cart.

Thanks again for your time, craftzombie!

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod

I just wanted to clarify that this is not my mod. I did not write it. I just know it pretty well and try my best to answer questions since the person who wrote it is unable to. As far as how it works in regards to PHP, etc... I have no clue! I do not write code. I understand code a tiny bit so that I am able to tweak things sometimes or move things around, but that's about it. If only I had the time to learn, I'd probably be good at it!

Re: My Checkout Without Account Mod

Greetings CraftZombie

From your generous help and ongoing kindnesses, my getting COWOA up and running was relatively painless and straightforward.

You certainly have my vote as Zen Cart Mother of the Year.
