Calculate after coupon total before checkout?

Is there a way to have Zen Cart calculate a customers total (so they can see it) after they apply a coupon code, but before they enter their credit card number? Im setting up my cart and testing coupons.. i personally would want to see what my actual total was before i entered my credit card number and pressed "next" ~ even if it wasnt going to charge it yet.

Is there some kind of code that can be added or a mod for this?? Any suggestions welcome ;-)

Re: Calculate after coupon total before checkout?

If the customer enters the coupon code and presses Enter, the screen will refresh to say that they've redeemed the coupon. It will show the coupon code, along with the revised subtotals, and a message asking them to provide payment information.

Wonderful.. I was able to duplicate that result.

Next question(s) would be, can i add some text to that discount coupon area on the checkout page to inform the customer they may press enter or refresh to see updated total? And on the same note, add text to the shipping insurance area right underneath that to show the fee schedule for insuring their package?

I am using version 1.3.7, and someone made a template for me.. so i would need to know where to locate the file to change.. if one exsists.

Thank you so much for your time

Re: Calculate after coupon total before checkout?

DR Byte,

Is this feature only available on 1.3+? I am still using 1.2.6 (upgrading in process) and tried this but it gives me an error asking for the credit card info.

Suggestion makes sense. I'd like to change the Discount Coupon text on the checkout_payment page but can't seem to find the proper DEFINE fields to modify in the two files you mentioned above. Can you please tell me how I can modify the copy in the "Discount Coupon" area of that page?

thanks,
Don

Re: Calculate after coupon total before checkout?

Find the text you want to change, or text near where you want to add something, and look up where that existing text is found ... many times you will make your changes in the same file ...
