Proper way to make images available via ftp

What is the proper way to make images available as an URL when site building?

In building my own site, I would follow these steps:
create the page offline
upload the page
upload the images to a file within my site

and then access those files by placing tiny hyperlinks hidden in on of my pages that would lead me to the URL of that image, which I could then set in place.

Obviously that last step is faulty but I cannot get my head around how to access the images otherwise.

Could any of you tell me a more efficient method? I've been meaning to ask for months!

Please would you re-phrase your question. I've read it several times, but still can't work out what it is that you want to do.

LOL I'm not surprised it's jibberish - That was why I've put off asking the question; I wasn't sure how to ask it! However, because I was forced to actually sit and think about it so as to be able to describe my dilemma clearly, it suddenly dawned on me how it works. Problem resolved!

It was all about properly accessing whatever image folder I placed on the site via ftp. Without going into further detail, I was taking the long way around but have now seen the obvious path. :smartass:
