Column Layout for New Products Page

yellow1912:

Why not using a module that is coded for this very specific purpose?
http://blog.rubikintegration.com/2009/08/08/speed-up-your-zencart-development-by-using-single-listing-template/
The multi-tasking yellow strikes again.
Thanks for the input, will read the whole thread, test the module and if questions will post in the appropriate thread.
THANKS.

Re: Column Layout for New Products Page

The number of new products per page is set in the admin page for maximum values I think, I mentioned it in the README and that it would probably want to be set to a multiple of the number of columns, e.g. for three columns, set maximum new products to 3, 6, 9, 12 etc - looks like maybe you have it set to four? Or am I misunderstanding?

Maximum Display of Products All Page, I set to 9 and fixed issue with All Products.
Still having the issue with the empty cart page, still have the 1-column centered layout.

Re: Column Layout for New Products Page

I believe the "new items" thing on the empty cart page is a different item, handled by the original contribution and a different setting in the admin page. I made this package so the new items and all items linked pages would resemble that box. I think I have that in max values, fifth item down:
New Products Module 9
also, down farther,
Maximum Display of Specials Products - Main Page 3

When my cart is set to have only one or two items on special, it is centered and fewer columns.

hth?

dweb:

New Products Module 9
Maximum Display of Specials Products - Main Page 3
Still SOL, I get 9 products in a centered column.
You are right that the empty cart is a different animal, I am still trying to figure out how to handle it.

Re: Column Layout for New Products Page

I am doing this again on 1.3.8 and doesn't seem to be working out the same can someone have a look and see what this issue may be?

http://www.tylerandtallulah.com/shop/products_new

the Spacing is huge and the description is there?

Sorry my memory is rusty on this but it worked like a charm opn 1.3.7

Re: Column Layout for New Products Page

Ok I have fixed most of my issues by turning off the description through admin "new listing" and adding a <br> before add: in english.php file. The only thing I cant figure out is why are all the image different here and not regulated to one size like the others can this be managed somewhere as well?

I have this added to the style sheet :
Should I not designate the size maybe or possibly a different way?

.new_products {float: left;
width: 200px;
height: 400px;
text-align: center;
}

Here is the link: http://www.tylerandtallulah.com/shop/products_new

Thanks!

Re: Column Layout for New Products Page

I have installed this module and it is working for me. However, I would like to move the Add Products to Cart link from the top and bottom of the page and insert a button from the individual products page into each of the products in the grid.

Is there a switch to allow this or does the code need to be changed?

Thanks!

Re: Column Layout for New Products Page

There isn't a switch for this in the pages, can't recall if the add-all button is controlled by admin but this is pretty useless in my cart. I simply use the picture and name of the product in the grid as a link to the product page, and the manufacturer name as a link to their page (in my cart) - the add-all buttons don't work with "virtual" downloadable products anyway since there doesn't seem to be a way to set them up without the single required attribute, the filename of what you're purchasing.

Re: Column Layout for New Products Page

I just put this on my shop, and I have to say, it looks so much better now. I have it up and working fine. I only have one question...is there a way to put a border around the items and still have it look nice?

I tried changing the code to this:

.new_products {
		float: left;
		width: 32.5%;
		text-align: center;
		padding: 3px 1px;
                border: 1px solid;
		}

But that does not put a 'perfect' border around everything. It puts a specific border around each item, which, if an item has a 2nd line in the name, then that items box gets pushed down another line, and the one/s beside it have a line with a gap in between.

You can see my all products page here:
http://funkymunkys.ca/index.php?main_page=products_all%3E

and my new products page here:
http://funkymunkys.ca/index.php?main_page=products_new

Thank you.

Re: Column Layout for New Products Page

FunkyPapa - To get the items to have the same height, you need to explicitly set a fixed height. The borders will double up where they adjoin without fancy CSS work, so you may want to space them apart a bit. This also requires reducing the element width a bit so they still fit on one line.```
.new_products {
border: 1px solid #aabbcc;
height: 14em;
width: 31%;
margin: 0 0.5em 0.5em 0;
}

What SQL?

The one contributed by dweb only has two files.

Re: Column Layout for New Products Page

Does anyone know how I can remove the title?

And just show the price?

Thanks!
