Navigating between subcategories with next/prev buttons... possible?

Hello!

I'm upgrading a clients site here lately. They have a ton of products and categories. Is there a way to let their customers browse between subcategories. Kind of like when you're in a category with multiple products, and customers can choose the Prev/Next navigation to get there, but instead of previous and next product, they'd have previous and next subcategory?

And instead of Prev/Next, I'd love to see the name of the previous and next category. Am I making sense? Is this possible?

Sorry, i'm not good at verbalizing such things.

Ok, imagine you have a main category with 5 subcategories.

When you click to Subcategory 1, I'd like to have the ability to go to Subcategory 2 without using the side navigation. Instead, above the subcategory description, there could be a "Previous Category" and "Next Category" like here is for products.

So at the top of the Subcategory page, it could say:

Subcategory 5...................... Back toMain Category................... Subcategory 2
Previous SubCategory..............................................................Next SubCategory

Not sure if its even doable, just an idear....

I'm still not making sense?

On a product page, you have the previous product/ next product link.

In a site with a ton of subcategories, once you click on a subcategory, then you'd have a previous subcategory/next subcategory link.

The site that got me thinking of this sells cloth diapers. I think it would be nice to allow people to switch from subcategory A to subcategory B without having to go backwards in the breadcrumb links.

For an example, this page lists 4 subcategories:
http://www.jmb.jadetrue.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_270

"Prefolds", "Fitted Diapers", "Diaper Covers", then "All in Ones".

Once the customer clicks on "prefolds", it would be nice to be able to go directly to "Fitted Diapers" (next subcategory) or to "All in Ones" (previous subcategory) without having to go back to the category above it.

Yes, when you don't have the subcats showing in the cat box it would make it easier if there was some method to navigate between subcategories ...

This could always be coded but it would probably be more site specific as to when it is useful or not useful ...

Adding the navigation might get tricky when the Categories have different depths of subcategories ...
