Move category links above product categories

Hi, I'm wanting to find out how I can move the category-links ie. specials, what's new etc, above the product categories (i think these links are probably more popular than the categories so makes sense to have them at the top).

I've tried editing the tpl_categories.php template file and i keep stuffing it up. so i would be very grateful if anyone could have a quick look to see what i should do to make this change. thanks in advance!

I looked at this site and it appears that you have 2 items at the top probably in main page and then featured below that I see no categories ??

If I am not looking at the correct page post the the url to the exact page with a small explanation

sorry if i wasn't clear- I'm referring to my left hand menu. i would like to move 'on sale' and 'new arrivals' above my product categories. thanks

Find this and make a copy and create in your template folder for the override
includes/templates/template_default/sideboxes/tpl_categories.php

Now most do not change this so it is not commented with bof's and eof's but you can locate the code segements for the new, specials, featured, and all and carefully watch the open and matching close tags and move the entire segment above or to the top entry - one or all of them - save and upload - if you messed it up no issue just delete it and the original will used and you can make another copy and try again

I've already tried changing this file by moving the sections I want above the categories and it doesn't appear correctly. 'Specials' and 'What's new' appears above each category so ends up repeating itself as seen in my demo site
