Grid Pricing & User Specific Products.

Greetings. I've just begun using ZenCart for the first go - I'm curious of 2 necessary functions for me.

One is related to our print production sales. For example, I would like to add a single product, let's call it "Full Color Business Cards". The attributes of this product would include:

  1. Quantity
  2. Size

where quantity would list thousands from 1-10 and
size would offer 3.5 x 2 or 3.5 x 4 - scored and folded

Any ideas on how I could have this type of "grid-pricing" from within ZenCart?
We have to apply the logic to a number of categories with varying numbers of qty's and sizes available, so it would be a true fix, not a temp fix.

Granted, I do not mind entering in each of the grid prices manually, as opposed to self calculation based on complex volume discounting.

If there's a fix, please let me know. If not, let me know if any of you have the knowledge and ability to solve the problem quickly ( implement by Sunday ) at a fair rate. Thank you kindly.

Re: Grid Pricing & User Specific Products.

Unfortunately, stock Zen Cart does not have dependent options. You really have two choices, unless you get into custom coding:

For the example you gave, it would make sense to separate the cards into two products, single and folded, with qty attributes for each. I gather that this may not be viable for other products, though.

The other way is to have one string of options (dropdown or radiobutton) something like
3 1/2 x 2 - 1000
3 1/2 x 2 - 2000
3 1/2 x 2 - 3000
3 1/2 x 2 - 4000
3 1/2 x 2 - 5000
3 1/2 x 4 - 1000
3 1/2 x 4 - 2000
3 1/2 x 4 - 3000
3 1/2 x 4 - 4000
etc.

Sorry I can't suggest anything more elegant.

Actually, you could have the size be the option, and the customer enters the number of thousands in the quantity box (buying 1, 2, 3, etc. of the product), and apply quantity discount pricing. I'll check on that and post about the details - you can build it in as standard.

Re: Grid Pricing & User Specific Products.

OK, here's what you can do. You will want to use Attributes Quantity Discount, accessed from the Attributes Controller (under Catalog in admin).

First, in the product creation page, set it to "priced by attributes" with a base price of 0.

Make an Option Name of say "Size", and Option Values for it of "3 1/2 x 2" and "3 1/2 x 4 folded."

In Attributes Controller, add 3 1/2 x 2 to the product and set the base price - say 34.95 for 1000 - with the price prefix blank. Then find the "Attributes Qty Price Discount" field and enter the quantity to price formula. 1:34.95,2:30.95,3:28.95,4:27.95,5:27.50,6:26.95 etc.
or if the price per thousand is constant between 3000 and 6000, skip 3,4 & 5 and just enter the price at 6.

The product info page will show a "quantity discounts available" link which will take you to a popup table showing

QTY . . . . 1 . . . . 2 . . . . 3 . . . . 4 . . .
PRICE $34.95 $30.95 $28.95 $27.95 . . .

or

QTY . . . . 1 . . . . 2 . . . . 3-6 . . . 7+ . . .
PRICE $34.95 $30.95 $28.95 $27.95 . . .

(It won't show the total price for 4000 here.) When the quantity desired is added to the cart, the total cost as well as price each will show in the cart.

Repeat for the 3 1/2 x 4 option.

Re: Grid Pricing & User Specific Products.

I have a similar problem where my grid is like this:

Quantity Standard
1K Business Cards $60
2K Business Cards $75

Formula Rate (for more than 2000 quantity)
5K (Height x Width x Rate) 8.25
10K (Height x Width x Rate) 14.75
15K (Height x Width x Rate) 19.75

I've calculated myself the rates which homogenizes the thing a bit, leaving the Formula table as:

5K $57.75 (Height x Width[7] * Rate[8.25])
10K $103.25
15K $138.25

Attached is the Products Price Manager screen as I have it now.

But, I have also to add attributes to those products that right now aren't working as expected.

The table I have is as:

"Scoring"[attribute] $20 Set-Up & $20 per Thousand

How to input those Attributes on?

Any help would be appreciated, I get :lamo: with this stuff...

thanks!
