pages loading slow or not at all after install

I have been trying to install the latest version of zencart.

Each time I try to do the install, I create my database, set my folder permissions and run the installer.

After the install is complete, I access my store page. The page takes nearly a full minute to load. If I try and click on any links, they also take a very long time to load.

When I try and log into the admin, same issue - takes a long time to get in. I wanted to install some templates, so I went to Tools > Template Selection. The page attempted to load for almost a full minute, then brought me to a blank page.

What could be going on?

I have several other zencart test sites installed (with the previous zencart version) and I never had this problem. Any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong?

Ok, I tested it in Safari (I am on a mac and was using FF) and it is running quicker there.

All other items in my admin seem to be funcioning except for the one I wanted to work with today (Tools > Template Selection ). Everytime I try to go to the page I just get a blank page.

I tried changing the permissions of
/catalog1_dev/admin/template_select.php to 777 but still no luck. When I view the source from the browser, it comes up blank as well.

I template_select.php in a text editor and it does have content.

But it is not showing up when I access that page online. Any ideas?

You can check the files one by one to find the issue or quicker to reupload the full distribution set(less zc_install)and use a "GOOD" FTP tool that will report/correct any errors

I reuploaded the entire admin folder but stilll no luck with the template selection page. Are there any files in particular that I should be looking at or resetting permissions for?

I am using Fetch (on a mac).
