some pages devoid of product listings

I recently launched a new site using this wonderful product known as Zen Cart. It was working as planned until recently when a customer said they couldn't find one of the products. Sure enough some pages come up blank (without any listing) and on others the first page of the listing shows while the "next" page is empty.

Here's an example:
http://www.china-bazaar.com/ click on Knives > Folding. You'll see the first page with items 1-10 of 31. Click on the "next" page (or page 2) and there's nothing.

Some of the other categories exhibit this problem on the first page of the listing (they have less than 10 items). Axes is an example of this (five items in the database).

I have this site working properly on my local server. It was working remotely on the hosted site until recently.

Any ideas on what may be causing this??

I've investigated further and found the following:

Knives > Folding
The subcategory page displays the first page of listings but the click to view subsequent pages displays empty

Swords > Samurai
The subcategory page displays all pages as it should.

Axes
This is a single product which isn't showing up either.

Now, since there are 21 products in Samurai and 31 in Folding the results should be the same: either both working or both not working. It's inconsistent. So the template override isn't the problem. Is it possible it could be the database? Is it possible I have some corrupt tables within the categories that aren't working properly?

Ideas?

Find products_id 96 ... and temporarily turn it off ...

Does the listing work now?

This product appears to be breaking your Product _info pages too when moving through on the Prev/Next for that Catagory ...

You may have others like this as Page 2 and 3 of the Listing are broken but Page 1 and 4 work for that category ...

Note may need to turn off 96, 97 and 98 ...

I am not sure what is on these products but they see to be causing display issues ...

Thank you so much for putting me on the right track.

While it wasn't the particular product id's you mentioned, I was able to track down the rascals that were causing the problem. I disabled them and now everything seems to be working okay. There were many and it took a while to get it all straightened out.

It seems to be related to products with multiple images but it isn't consistent, as some products with multiple images work fine.

Any experience with something similar happening?

Sounds like something odd with your products or with your templates ...

Additional images should not have any kind of effect on the Product Listing ... so I would be more inclind to think your template or the products themselves ...

You might try checking permissions on the images and directories ...

Or, try switching to Classic to see if the error disappears that occures on your template ...

I know this is an old thread, but I was having the same problem and this thread helped me identify the culprits. Just thought I'd post what I did in case anyone else runs into this.

I disabled the items on the offending page one at a time, refreshing the live page each time, until it showed up. After I identified the problem products, I was able to narrow down the problem. My staff had uploaded high resolution images for these items instead of reducing them to our normal 'large image' size. (We use Image Handler for the rest...) When I deleted the images and reloaded ones at the proper size, I was able to reactivate the products without anymore page display problems!
