Images for Attribute Options?

First post here, so forgive me if I don't really know all of the technical terms! I have a zencart site hosted by rentacart and have asked them this question and they say I can't actually do it, but I know that I can because I've seen a couple of people on this forum discuss it!

So, basically, my website sells various items customised with Swarovski crystals. My customers need to be able to select the crystal colour(s) that they desire, and I would like an image below the attributes box with images of the crystal colours. I can't expect people to know exactly what jonquil/aquamarine etc look like!

Any help would be gratefully appreciated (especially if anyone could explain this to me as if talking to a complete ZenCart newbie, which I am!)

Thanks guys
Katie

hmm!!
You mean as at
http://www.zen-cart.net/demo/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=95
If so, download latest zencart 1.37, install,
and accept option to include demo products..
This configuration, as at above url is included,
so you can then see how to add to your own zencart..

Thanks Misty - will downloading 1.37 interfere with the template I have? I'm running into this problem a lot, that the template I bought because I liked the way it looked is actually limiting a lot of the changes I can make.

My site is at http://www.crystal-vysion.com if that helps!

Thanks
Katie

Re: Images for Attribute Options?

Katie, .. a properly coded zencart
template should work fine with this images for
attributes option...come to that, template should
work fine with all zencart options..
STRONGLY suggest you install a new zencart 1.37, AS
EXTRA to your existing cart, so you can practice
first....HTH

Misty, could you guide me through what you mean by downloading 1.37 as extra? Will there be an obvious option to do this, or will I have to be careful to save it in a different place, etc?

Thanks

What web hosting options do you have...what version of zencart??
i.e one zencart installed that you rent from rentacart???
The idea is to have 2 seperate zencarts.. your existing plus another
new zencart 1.37 so you can practice configuring
attribute image option..

Re: Images for Attribute Options?

Well rentacart have got back to me; my website is running version 1.2.7 and my existing template won't work with version 1.37.

Looks like I will be spending a chunk of time on here learning how to start from scratch with the rather nice Candied Apple template!

Re: Images for Attribute Options?

what you are trying to achieve is possible in 1.27..but from security aspect, upgrade your existing site from 1.27 to 1.37.. then you can still use your template...

Re: Images for Attribute Options?

Rentacart are telling me that the template won't work with version 1.37 - they actually said that they were going to use 1.37 for my site but because of the template I purchased, they had to actually change that to 1.2.7.

I have resigned myself to needing to build the site again myself from scratch (well, from the Candied Apple template)... there have been so many problems because of the template I purchased that it's been a bit of a nightmare. I'm scared and excited by the prospect of starting again... so much good information on this forum to read through and absorb.
