Stock by attributes for theater tickets

Hi, i am setting up zen cart for a small theatre. The theatre needs to sell tickets by date and ticket type. i.e. child, concession, adult etc. I have added stock by attributes to my cart. I also have added an attribute of date, and ticket type. When i go to add stock by attribute it seems to make me use both attributes. I only want to add stock to each date. not ticket type. does any one have any ideas? so what i need is to say for 1st march there are 70 tickets, but this stock is a combination of any ticket type.

I realize that I am replying to a three-year-old post, but I have exactly the same problem, and I was wondering if you ever solved it?

My system is selling seats on a train. The product is a trip (300 seats) and the attributes are Adult and Child (different prices).
ZenCart updates both attribute and product quantities, but I only require the product quantity to be updated to give me the "Sold Out" signal.

I am interested in your solution.
