paypal express how to install? and localhost issues

hi,

I will start this thread on a specific questions as opposed to a general one earlier. I want to use paypal express.

q) to set up checkout express , can i do this on my localhost and do i need curl.
How do i set this up exactly?

q) I have a premier account with paypal, and ZC asks for an api settings with paypal whcih I can't see on my paypal account info.

q) There is an option for sandbox and does this work with ZC?

Go to your paypal account, look in your profile,than to API access. You have to request API access. Paypal will send you username,password and signature.
This you have to put in you set up of Papal express.

Your webserver will require CURL support in order to use Express Checkout.

You can use the PayPal sandbox for testing if you like. There is an option to enable sandbox mode, which can be found inside the payment module settings in your Zen Cart admin. The sandbox is a developer tool more than a storeowner tool. As such, using the sandbox is a matter outside the scope of Zen Cart support. Please refer to https://developer.paypal.com/ for sandbox matters. You generally don't need the sandbox to test basic PayPal transactions. Simply perform some live transactions and refund them if you wish to avoid the service charges. See this wiki article on testing PayPal with Zen Cart.

Ok I follow the instrcutions as above witha premier account, click on paypal when proceed to checkput is pressed , have an item to buy .50c and then I get a blank screen after clicking on confirm order ?
At The shopping cart screen there is also a button togot paypal and when i click on that nothing happens.

This sounds like your localhost is not configured to support CURL, which is required in order to talk to the PayPal servers. You'll need to have that working in order to test it. Why not install your Zen Cart site on a live server and test that way ? You need to be on a live server to do live processing, so this would be an ideal way to test it for you.

1. Did you install CURL ? If not, then since you're running on localhost you'll need to install it. You can find the files and code for CURL support online.
   I went to Google and found these references. I'm sure there are more if these aren't sufficient:

I was actually talking about the live host to install ZC on, if it had curl installed. Anyway your information is very helpful.
I will check out what you said.

Running the techsupp.php or just the usual zc_install process (which you would run on the live hosting server anyway) will show you what PHP reports for availability of CURL support.

I get a 'transaction is invalid.' on a paypal site when performing a paypal transaction. The value is just 10c because i am testing and will have to refund it if it works.

I just installed curl on my localhost like this and curl appears in a php_info() command.
I installed curl with this.

This is how I got curl working on my Windows XP machine.

1. Copied libeay32.dll and ssleay32.dll to c:\windows\system32
2. Edited my PHP.ini file un-commenting extension=php_curl.dll
3. Checked what my extension directory was (extension_dir = "./")
4. Copied php_curl.dll from my c:\php\extensions directory to c:\php directory.
   That was it. Tested it using $cp = curl_init(); and worked fine.

q) What do i do as i seems to have done all the right things. I am going to a live site to test because the time it takes to work it out eg google , then i could have in stalled a live site.

This is likely symptomatic of using "localhost" for your domain name. PayPal likely realizes that a return URL of "localhost" isn't a legitimate site, and therefore treats it as invalid information. Using your IP address might work better. Or just test on a test site installed on a live server.

Ok , I quickly installed ZC default on a livesite and configured paypal express.

I created a dummy account and the graphic card set to 65c with 0 cost shipping.

I will check the logs but i get these errors. I am checking out what i did wrong but i filled out the paypal account info from my premier account when doing a live transaction of a small amount.

That error comes from the errorhandler which had a bug in initial release.
Apply the most recent patch posted in this thread in order to address that and several other issues:
