Restrict Product Category to specific customers

Is there a way of doing this?

I have googled, search the help system and searched the forum but was not able to find an answer to this.

I have a client that is wanting to restrict access to a particular category of products to certain customers. I cannot see anyway of doing this within the admin area and am hoping there is a mod out there that can achieve this.

I'm also wanting something similar:
Scenario 1 - unregistered users would only see a limited number/category of products. When they either registered or ordered, the next time they loged in they would see all products. Registered customers would be allowed to browse all products.

Scenario 2 - as above, but the products/categories available to unregistered users to browse would be governed by some control such as country or region. For example, unregistered customers from the far east would see a different product range from those from Europe.

Why? It's what my client wants for his business!
