Homepage with Product on sidebars But not a Catalog Page

I want to setup a homepage that is not the default Zen-Cart catalog page, but still can show featured products on the sideboxes. I want to make the catalog page available through a link on this page. What do I need to do so this page shows up when people enter my site url.

I am trying to do something similiar. I want to have a homepage that has the look and feel of the shopping page (domain.com/shop) but be the main welcome page at mydomain.com. I used Publisher before as my website and shopping portal until I realized EZ-Cart was the way to go for selling product. I've tried to create a homepage with Publisher that looks like my zen-cart page but I can't get it. Any tips and tricks would be appreciated.

I am not sure how publisher works for creating a website, ZC offers a template based design using CSS. You can create a website template and customize as much as you like but some CSS knowledge is very helpful, the sites you referred to, look pretty standard, very much like ZC standard classic template, there is a header section, below it three columns and a footer. ZC allows you to turn off either of the side columns or both, modify the header/footer etc. Look into templates available in the download area and see how they have done it. For basic look and feel changes, all you need is to change stylesheet.css file, you can get started here.
