Custom Fields On Product Set Up Page?

I am adding products to my site.

I need to be able to have my shoppers fill in additional info about certain products before adding the item to their cart.

I need to know the existing brand of their item, what type of product they currently use (this one is checkbox filed), size of existing item, manufacturer and part number of existing item, etc.

How do I go about adding these choices?

Also, we have a nearly endless supply of product, so I don't want to use the product quantity/units in stock feature. Where do I turn that off?

Also, wanted to add that different products will have different fields, so it will be product page specific.

These types of things are set up in PRODUCT ATTRIBUTES.

You can add text input fields in attributes, so this feature is likely to be able to provide the solution you seek.

As far as turning of STOCK COUNTING features...

The main settings are under ADMIN>CONFIGURATION>STOCK

I worked out the attributes. That took awhile! :wacko:

I still am a bit confused on the stock issue though. I went to where you suggested and changed Check stock level to false and if I turn the quantity to blank on the product set up page, it shows as out of stock.

Am I changing the wrong field on the stock page?

Make sure each one of your products has at least ONE item "in stock".
