Could anybody post their Zones Rates configuration?

Sorry, I x-posted this. Just realized this group gets a lot more traffic.

Wow! I'm surprised I'm having so many problems finding typical zone rates for a US store. Could anybody post their Zones Rates configuration? Or point me to a resource with a typical setup?

There may not be much point in doing this, unless you want to configure it to match the setting of a particular shipping agent. If you let us know what shipping agent(s) you use, someone may have set up the zones to a similar configuration.

I'm just setting up for UPS and USPS. Why do you say there might not be much to do? Don't I need to plug in all the country codes? Thanks for the help!

If you enter your address with the proper Country State and 5 digit Zip Code then the customer's shipping address is used to produce the quote from UPS and USPS ...

That sounds awesome! So then I wouldn't use Zone Rates? Also, why would a t-shirt to Germany show up as a $56.00 shipping fee via UPS? And a 2.5lb bicycle fork to The Netherlands for $109.00? I must be doing something wrong.

Check your settings on the Tare in Shipping/Packaging as it adds 3lbs to the order by default ...

I had dropped it to 1.5 lbs, do you think that is still too much? .5 lbs maybe? Do you think that's the main culprit?

I'm not sure what you're asking. It appears the USPS prices are correct but the UPS ones seem really high. Is there anywhere I can find a UPS pricing chart to compare what I'm getting to them?

Aha! Just answered my own question. Went to the UPS site to compare. It does indeed cost $50-something to ship a t-shirt to Germany. There you have it.

So, for smaller packages UPS is just really expensive I guess. Maybe unless you
do high volume.
